? Regarding tapping N249 for boost gauge

I bought a white Avant this past week and have been having great time giving it a makeover. I have been parting the sedan out and swapping a few parts here and there. Now I am getting a weird issue with my VEI boost/afr guage. I just swapped over my VEI gauge with only the boost sender because I am not running the afr setup currently. I noticed on the (stock) avant there was a line already cut going from the N249 to the diverter valve. I proceeded to just use tap that for boost/vacuum. When I started the car I was getting -5 vacuum!! This reading can't be correct because the car idled smoothly and low. I then drove and was getting a boost reading of 8psi. This seems about right for a stock car. My question is: Can the N249 be giving me bad vacuum readings? I want to make sure before cutting up more hoses or ordering new sender. TIA!

You need to run the boost gauge off of the intake manifold and not between the N249 and the DV. The N249 is used to modulate the DV as needed by the ECM.

Thanks! Its been a while since I had all the stock hoses. I figured it might have been the location. I will tee it off later tonight before the n249 and see if the reading will be correct.
