    Audi Special Tool 3369

I am interested in fabricating a tool that replicates Audi Special Tool 3369.

Having not used the tool I do not understand why the sleeve encasing the bolt has a slit along it's length. Could someone familiar with this tool explain why the tool is made this way.

    Thanks

I can't explain the reasoning behind that, but you can use the bolts that you take out from the fog light grille area (they go up through the bumper shocks).

    They work just fine.

What he said ^^^ certainly no sense in spending the money on those when a 4 inch bolt works just fine.

Better yet don't even fuss w/ the lock carrier bolts. I didn't when I did my TB job. I just let the lock carrier hang, it frees up more room. Just make sure you get your AC/Coolant lines in good position from pinching and you'll be fine. On my Passat when I performed the 1st TB I went to the hardware store and found bolts w/ the correct thread/pitch as an alternative. No need to dish out big bucks for a simple operation.

I just used some cheap lag bolts I had laying around the garage. Worked fine.
