Question Question regarding charging dead battery

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I left my 2013 S5 in the garage for about 6 weeks and the battery is completely dead and I think it was drained by the remote starter that I installed on the car

I tried to charge it with the CTEK US 3300 tickler charger, but there was some weird coming from the trunk (the battery area I would assume) after I connected the charger.

Then I unplugged the charger immediately as I did not want to damage anything

So I need to get a new battery?

If not, will it be fully charged with the CTEK charger? Or I should call Audi Roadside Assistance ?

    Thanks in advance !

    Question regarding charging dead battery

Don't connect the charger directly to the battery in the trunk! Read your manual. There are charging posts in the centre of your rain tray under the hood.

The trickle charger may not have enough power to charge from a depleted state. You'll need a beefy charger and it'll take a good 24 hours.

Usually, if a battery is completely dead it will not hold a charge again.. Use jumper cables to start it up and let it run for awhile to try and charge it. if it wont hold the charge its toast..

    Appreciate it !

I called the Audi Roadside Assistance this morning and the tech helped me jump start the car. Everything turned out to be fine and I've been driving the car for about 1.5 hours.

However the car would not want to start after I turned it off. Probably it's the time for a new battery

It is not 'probably'. Your S5 does need a new battery.
Current: 2016 S5 in Sepang Blue with Technik Package.
