    2010 Audi A6 Transmission code P178F

Got a Audi A6 with a P178F code (6081) Pressure regulator valve dirty/clogged. Performed a fluid flush with a fluid exchanger already on the transmission system but code still comes back. Tried to clear the system with ODIS but to no avail and the test plan is telling me to replace the TCM. Cant find any other information about this code other than on the forms. Is the module shot or maybe the solenoid?

While i've never seen that code, it could be clogged. Is there any symptoms you're having besides the error code?

I would have to agree that it's the TCM if you're not having any issues.

Heres a diagram of these valve bodies where the pressure regulator is. It can get clogged and/or stuck causing problems. Although a new valve body might be necessary, it's worth taking to a transmission shop to get the valve body looked at. They will probably have to take it apart and order a new separator plate at the minimum, but that beats a new $1000+ TCM.

What is ODIS? It could also be telling you wrong codes as these cars are only good at showing more in-depth codes to VCDS (Rosstec) or the Audi software.

Yeah no luck. Talked to a buddy in Audi and they said that the transmission is done. Valve body is at the back of the trans housing and he recommended I just source a used or new transmission. He said that its probably because the owner didn't do the transmission service that this happened. Vehicle has 117,000 miles so I cant be sure how true that is.

Interesting that an Audi person would say a tranny failed because the owner didn't do the "service". Per Audi, these are "maintenance free" transmissions with ZERO recommended service intervals in the owners manual.
I highly doubt that the lack of service on a "maintenance free" component would be the sole reason it failed at 117k miles, but it didn't help the situation either.
