New SQ5 owner....mods on the way

    Whats up guys-

Just got this 2015 SQ5 for the wife w/ 1480 miles on the clock. Love how it handles and drives. This is our first Audi.

Just got the windows tinted yesterday. I went 20% in the rear and 35% in the front. I might go 20% in the front later on.

Its going to Eurocharged Houston today for H&R drop springs and getting the stock 21'' wheels powder coated gloss black.

Also I ordered the AWE tuning touring exhaust. Should be here in a week or so. Is anyone running cat less down pipes? I would like to know how loud it is before I pull the trigger. If anyone has the same exhaust please post a video/ YouTube link.

    Pics below of the tint.

    Cheers,
    Anthony

Post your pictures to a server like photobucket or Flickr, then copy the IMG code.

I'd be interested to see the result of the tint. Did you get 20% for the rears, essentially making it darker than 20% since the OEM is at about 30-40%?

I'm still on the fence whether to tint the back windows or not.

Not a good idea. In Texas, you'll have to put them back on just to pass the annual inspection.
The Audi cats aren't very restrictive, as you might have guessed by their stance on pollution controls.

OP, on this platform the cats are upstream of the downpipes. So you can keep your cats in, and go with resonated, or non-resonated downpipes.

Most folks that go catless on this platform like to pair the Milltek resonated exhaust system with it.

If you still decide to go catless, it's going to be quite loud with the AWE exhaust. Check youtube for examples of the pairing.

I think my tint guy said the rear was 28% stock. I have 5% all the way around in my M5 and the SQ isn't even close to being that dark in the rear. I would say do it. It looks way darker in these pictures then it actually is. You can see through both windows in the rear.

I'm fully cat less on the M5 and I have a guy on the inside, wink wink. Not worried about inspection.

Did not know that. Thank you my friend. Going to see what it will sound like with just the AWE exhaust first then decide on down pipes since its the wife's car.

Thanks! They do look great, though the wife wants to have the front and the back to be a close match. Will definitely show her these pictures.

Post the "IMG" link in your respond line and the pics will show up.

Welcome and glad to see another SQ!

The OEM rear windows have a purple color to them. Depending on brand of film, it looks different and impossible to match the fronts. I tried 35% up front (little lighter to avoid the fuzz, but 20% would probably be the closest), but it was browner than the rears. I have to go back now to get the rears done in 20% to try to get the colors closer (at least from the inside).

Anybody else recommend a specific film that matches the factory purple?

I'm going through the same issue with my fronts getting done in Pinnacle F1 35% and doesn't match as well due to the fronts having a green tinge. Still trying to identify the right combo. Various people have had luck with CTX by Llumar but have read others with the same results.

We have similar taste. I just picked up my wife a 2015 SQ5 in Glacier White. I have a 2013 BMW M5 as my daily also. Have H&R springs, Vorsteiner VFF 103 wheels, AWE touring exhaust sitting in the garage ready to be installed when the weather improves. Did you go with chrome tips or diamond black?

I'm debating going with catless downpipes on my M5. I have ER catless sitting in my garage but I'm concerned with the smell and noise since I have a ERace already. I might go with AMS catted. Thoughts on catless?

Love those Vorsteiner wheels! I went with the diamond black tips. Trying to keep it mainly white and black theme with no chrome.

Cat less on the M5 all day!!! Best decision I have ever made! I have Meisterchaft exhaust, resonator delete and RPI cat less down pipes. Can't beat the noise that beast makes. The smell isn't that bad at all. Just don't let it sit at idle in your garage very long. What color is your M5? Pics?? I have always owned loud cars so the noise doesn't bother me at all. Zero to no drone in 7th cruising down the highway.

I didn't notice the "purple" in the stock tint. I went with the Huper Optik tint and I didn't have any issues.

I will try to upload a few pics of the M5. Black Sapphire with 20" HRE P40s in Satin Black and lowered on KW HAS. I am picking up a tune this Spring (probably BPM Sport) to put some additional power down and will probably throw on the ER downpipes at that point. My friend is purchasing my car next year and I plan on picking up a 2015-2016 M5 with CP because I love the car so much. I thought of switching it up with a E63S or RS7 but I don't like the look of either as much. I came from a E60 M5 so hard to change brands. I might try to talk my wife into a RS7 next after the SQ5 but she really likes SUV's.

RS7 is badass a good friend of mine has one. That's funny I came from the E64 M6 to the F10 M5. I absolutely loved the V10...until I threw a rod bearing at 52k miles. 30k the dealership quoted me but I only had to pay my $50 deductible.

I got rid of my E60 M5 at 52k miles and luckily avoided any bearing issues. But I had a full Zurich warranty so that put me at ease. I had a 2004 Lexus LS430 in white before my E60 so this is getting really odd.

SQ5 looks great. I think I will get the stock wheels powder coated in gloss black. That looks great and it will be a good way to freshen up the wheels. I use them for the winter set and was going to leave them as is but those pictures made me change my mind. Was it roughly $400 to have them done?

That looks awesome! Satin black would also be really nice. I think black fender badges would be a nice addition if you plan to keep them.

I'm still on the fence as to whether or not I want to lose the badges. I know it would look a lot cleaner without them but on the other hand I'm proud to be sporting them. Audi owner problems.

Hahahaha that is funny. You got good taste my friend.

It was actually exactly $400. $100 each wheel and that included dismount/mount and balance.

I need to get the calipers painted now. Haven't decided if I want to lose the badges yet.

I need to delete the front License Plate bracket. Also I need to get the Ecodes for the front headlights. Where can I find these?

Love the black wheels - looks great. I like my silver wheels when they are clean, but get very dusty quickly then not so nice.
