i need to replace the left rear outer taillight on my wife's 2010 3.2. Can anyone tell me what the difference is between the different model numbers? Specifically the end letter. The part number on hers now is 8TO 945 095 E. And I have found some with the same numbers that ended with A. Does anyone know if this will fit? Any help is greatly appreciated.

I work for a company that directly supplies parts to VW and the letter at the end indicates the design release level of the part. The A is an original version of the part, the E would be a higher level to suit your particular model.

The design change might be minor from A to E, sorry can't help you with that. Probably best to replace with the correct level part to avoid any surprises.

Maybe ask your local dealership for help?
