okay the love hate relationship is being tested yet again.
2005 S4 JHM tune, Miltek downpipes etc etc etc
Scenario/history:
15K mi on complete timing repair/replacement
new crank position sensor
new fuel pump relay.
Car ran strong and well, no DTCs. Replaced PCV valve and valley pan gasket, started car to make sure all was well and it was. Car started and idled fine run for about 2 mins.
come back an hour later to run an errand and barely idles then sputters dies, it has not run since.
The only DTC was for throttle body adaptation error. I cleared that after struggling to figure out how for 2 days.
Now I am getting errors 17800 and 17746 cam position sensor open or short to plus (both sides). That is it though. no other DTCs. when the timing fails I know you get the implausible errors as well as a few others, been there hated it.
it cranks all day long. I can clear the codes. I crank and get a small backfire sound and the codes come back.
Vagcom shows the fuel pump as on while cranking and while cranking the ignition timing angle is at 12.8 BTDC. crank speed is 200 /min and I am seeing 13.9 v (using the charger as the battery gets spent cranking over a<script id="gpt-impl-0.432325094600629" src="http://partner.googleadservices.com/gpt/pubads_impl_80.js"></script>nd over)
Ok folks, where else to check? All the grounds I can find check ok. I can jump 12v to the fuel pump and it runs and I have pressure in the fuel rail. All fuses are functional. I still get the lights on the dash
Something is off and I am struggling where else to look. Help
thanks
