    Tiptronic performance upgrade!!!!!

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Just finishing up my big turbo/FMIC/head build and I'm limited to 300 AWHP. So I start looking for a Tip upgrade to make it handle more power and I find this!!!

    http://www.importperformancetrans.co...-kit-1961.html

Anyone had any experience with these guys at all? I'll be calling tomorrow morning first thing to find out what kind of power I can expect to be able to handle now. Would be badass to be able to reliably run 500 AWHP with a TIP!

I'll let you guys know what I find out tomorrow if anyone is interested 🤗

I don't know how to drive tip cars but good luck! In the old days... B5 tip S4 owners used to upgrade to Level 10 (http://www.levelten.com/SearchResults.asp?Cat=30) but I don't know anything else about it since I've never owned an automatic car in my life.

Thats nothing more than a rebuild kit. "to be used in conjunction with one of our modified valve bodies and custom torque converters." The torque converter and valve body is what you need to upgrade to be able to handle that kind of power. look into 517 trans or level 10 trans.

Just browsing the main forum and saw this, the FLA transmission can handle just as much power as the v8 Quattro 5hp24, it's the FWD 5hp19A that can't handle any power. Haven't personally confirmed this but was told first hand by a reliable source the 5hp30 torque converter can be used in the 5hp19fla, has a higher stlall speed and good to 400ftlbs torque.

MacDaddy, those are 2 very different torque converters, nothing is the same about them besides the steel they're made of haha!

You have been to the real part of New Jersey. I consider 50% of NJ New York anyways. But most of it looks like Northern California.

This. I am 20 miles out from NYC, I see the skyline from my town. :) I read a lot of good things about 517 transmissions. If you go with them I want to hear feedback because I would love to build my B5 up after its relieved from daily driver duties. I also have the AWD tiptronic trans.

Man looking at those prices it would be cheaper to do a 5 speed swap with an upgraded clutch. Wouldn't be easier though so I guess that's the trade off.
