Is it worth it to even change these Sway Bars?

    I have a 2011 S5 Coupe.

Someone gave me their OEM RS5 sway bars. They are thicker than my S5 ones.

If I was doing other work, (changing suspension parts), would you put these in or is it a waste? I see aftermarket sway bars for sale and am wondering what the difference between those and the RS5 ones would be. I would assume the RS5 ones are pretty nice, but I don't know that for sure.

I went with the 034 Motorsport one. If you got the RS5 one free, maybe install and see if you feel a difference, but if I was buying new I would go aftermarket. It would be set up to be a bit more aggressive than probably even the RS5 one.

I would just skip putting the RS5 bar on unless you aren't even considering aftermarket sway bars. But the improvement will be marginal compared to the Eurocode/034 bars.

The aftermarket bars are significantly stiffer than even the RS5 bar.

It wont be the big of a difference compare to Aftermarket Sway bars

I just went from stock RS5 swasy to EC sways and endlinks....huge difference. Virtually no body roll now.

IIRC its a bit of a pain to change sways as you need to remove the exhaust to get to the rear sways. With that being said since you already have the RS5 ones and don't really plan on tracking your car, I would just stick with the RS5 sways and not worry about it.

Unless I were tracking a car I really wouldn't want to go too stiff on sway bars, you lose more of the independent suspension comfort, the whole front and rear bounce more. However, free ones are ok to try!

Thanks for the advice. I actually have the stock s5 on a and the RS5 ones are in a box

Going to a stiffer sway bar isn't going to turn these cars into a live axle. I would argue that the stiffer stabar does almost nothing for ride comfort. I went from stock s5 suspension to Eurocode sways and my ride comfort is IMPROVED over stock. The trick is I also went with Bilstein coilovers and softened my damping as compared to stock. Dampers and springs are a pretty big knob for driver comfort. Suspensions should be pieced together with the entire system in mind. Just going with shorter springs to drop your car is a recipe for a harsher ride.

My car also has zero bounce.

I would put them on if you're working on something else down there. I just installed a stasis sway and did notice a SLIGHT difference. I probably wouldn't take everything apart just for that but like you mentioned if you're already doing suspension work and have the sways might as well toss em on.

Keep in mind a good amount if not all are one time use bolts for the sways and endlinks. Some reuse with no problems but they are technically supposed to be used once.

I was thinking of going with...

    H&R OE Sport springs
H&R sway bars (front & rear)

Thinks it's a waste? Anyone have this setup?

Everything I've read about the oe sports parings says stay away. Seems to make the ride unbearably harsh. Although, would probably feel like you're cornering on rails. Lol.

I'm not sure what others are on about. Adding a stiffer rear bar is one of the best mod, and probably the best bang for buck.

Our cars are nose heavy, and push like pigs. Unless you have the sport diff, a stiffer rear bars to help reduce the understeer. I would only go with a rear bar, not a front and rear bar, unless you like the current balance front to rear, which favors understeer. If you are looking to reduce body roll, I'd go with stiffer springs. I tend to like the stock springs.

I had the H&R's on the rear, and it was an improvement over the OE's. I recently switched to the 034....which was much better! The 034's include billet ARB mounts, so not only is the bar stiffer, but the mount is stiffer, with less damping material. The best the car has felt, with greatly reduced understeer.

    Good luck.

    Good luck.
No one is saying he shouldn't upgrade. We're just suggesting he skip the OEM RS5 bar and go straight to an aftermarket one, as the OEM bar is a marginal upgrade at best.

Not sure on the exact numbers for the B8 bars, but as an example the 034 rear bar for the B7 was 100+% stiffer than the OEM RS4 bar. I assume it's similar with the RS5. None of the OEM bars are anywhere near as stiff as a good aftermarket bar.

I have a 2014 RS5 Cab. Trying to reduce the shimmy/cowl shake. I heard upgrading the sway with the combination of AK and coilovers will reduce this feel. Any feedback from anyone?
