    MB S55 - (607hp/671tq), Suzuki GSXR 1000

I have an S55 with bolt-on mods as well as my stock block/RS6'r S4. Both cars are fun as hell, and completely different in the way that they deliver power. The MB has its full tq by 2000rpm, which is quite the amazing sensation trying to keep it going straight down the road. I have a few videos of my buddy and I racing...him in his Eurocharged Stage 1 E55 (557hp/615tq) the day after I had got my S4 back from JHM (I was a little timid with my shifting).

    Cost to go stage 1 on S55 = $2100 - 557hp/615tq / Cost to go Stage 2 on S55 = $4100 - 607hp/671tq / Cost to go Stage 3 on S4 = $$$$$$$$...............

I would definitely rock a manual swapped rs6. Not sure how much power the stock blocks can handle, but a 01e rs6 tuned on e85 would be delicious!

I have both....They each do their own thing. I love the E55 for the V8 as well as the comfy ride around town. But I love the S4 to be more agile in driving. Hard to choose and I would go for what you like or need more. The S4 is big enough for me personally but its a small sedan.
E55 is a large sedan. And you get really get anything better when comparing any type of engine to a V8 that has force induction.

I've got one with low miles, tasteful mods and all maintenance up to date, for sale if any of you are looking. I even have a complete 6speed a6 as well if someone was seriously interested in doing a swap.

Really depends on what your looking for but I have two rs6s and one b5. Each has their plusses and minuses. Rs6 is more of a bitch to work on for sure.

I wouldn't. Can't imagine the costs of maintenance for one. The s4 isn't really all that bad.

IMO, the RS6 is no more of a pain then the B5 S4. Just depends on your wrenching abilities.

I test drove an RS6 and it was very nice but decided I really wanted a manual trans. Ended up with an 04 S4 manual avant. Much slower than the RS6 but also a lot less money and the manual trans is great.

So I will agree with post #2, if it was manual swapped. Don't like the tip trans and even if I did it seems they need some upgrades to survive.

It's been a long time since I've driven an E55 but at this point I would say no due to no manual trans.

Edit- damn it, just realized I'm in the B5 section. Guess that's what I naturally clicked on since that's what I last had when more active here. Anyway, answers are the same :)

Yeah I know the automatic is boring. Maybe at 35 I'm just getting old!! I'm thinking of when I have to travel with the wife/child/dog. Haha

But I can still have my fun with 4 doors. Probably won't happen. Just curious though

I would never buy a merc, lots of nightmare stories, dealer only parts, never been a fan of the design. Also rented a CL-something 200 last year for a couple weeks and it was absolute shit (part if the reason i forgot its name). I get that its an entry level model but its nowhere near the level of an entry level BMW or Audi. Its piece du resistance was that neither the seat, pedals or steering wheel lined up making for a contorted driving position.

For and e55 no but for a c63 I may consider.
As far as the rs6 only if it was a manual or
an avant. I really want to convert a c5 s6
into an rs6 avant. Everything plug an play
unlike doing the rs4 conversion on a b5.

Sean over at SRM makes some cool
turbos for the c5 rs6 but the auto trans
won't take what they can dish out.

Straight up, for an RS6... Yes.

But under 1 stipulation: I do not want to pay full price for any maintenance on said RS6.

That day his car was faster than mine for sure, I was timid about shifting so they were really slow. Unfortunately he sold it shortly thereafter so I never got a chance to redeem myself.

tuned E55's are no joke... mph vs mph the S4 has it's work cut out for it to keep up that's for sure since most stage 3 S4's are stuck at 120 mph or lower in the 1/4

Meth also? If not I can see the results, add lot o meth or e85 and game changer. I was looking at e55's hard for some time, but just can't part with the old S4 and don't want another car to care for.

HAHAHAHA you guys are funny, I wish we were all in a room going back and forth with the comments, as for the maintenance, I work for/on benz and know the costs....as well I have a 2001.5 s4, recently rs6 turbos.....ill say one thing, even with my employee discount on oem parts for my s4, audi still beats out Mercedes for expensive, its unbelievable how much audi charges for little things. I laugh all the time at prices I quote for benz parts and repairs, then I go to pick up even the smallest thing and BAM laugh to myself and the with the parts guys about how much some pieces cost. but in reality its all relative. They are both European cars, you don't buy one because its cheap, if you did, your kidding yourself.

also agreed with the above who own/drive both, a 2005 E55 sits in my garage, originally purchased by Brian Urlacher(NFL player)silver with the black and merlot interior, long ass list of dealer history( which in most people eyes look suspicious, in my eyes, means the owner took the liberty of spending the time and money of dealership repairs)which is great. I tell that to everyone. Owned by a doctor after that, then his kid while he went to Berkley, now its in my hands. They are 2 completely different animals, the benz is a blast and you can drive it all day every day from coast to coast. Ive gotten 29mpg crusing to Arizona and san diego, plus it spanks plenty of cars on the road and its still stock - 130k and it feels brand new.

Im gonna continue my rant cuz its a platform I love, practically bulletproof, last production run of the 113 supercharged engine with the last production run 722 .6 - 5 speed auto is is pretty much bulletproof. the trans is used in the amg65 models with the V12tt, some people tune them up to 1000hp. classy and clean.

all that being said I love my 6 speed AWD little rocket, perfect world id have these cars, a 2003 rs6 with a 6 speed swap and some minor mods and a 2014 E63 S model awd with full pipes and tune running 10.8's all day hahaha. man I gotta make more money so I can have all these toys!!!!

i have never been a fan of the way the c5 looked. the front isn't bad but i never liked the rounded back end. one of the reasons i like the b5 so much. as far as the merc, i would never get rid of my s4 for one but i do like the e55s. to bad they aren't manual.

What do you think of the new E63 AMG wagons? With AWD now I have been eyeing them pretty heavily, but they are not common vehicles. They are insanely expensive now and depreciate so quick (2014 models down $25k already from MSRP) I'd never buy one this new, but in a few years I'm strongly considering changing over to the Mercedes. Wouldn't need to if Audi would bring more RS models and avants over to the US.

I think I would be okay with giving up a stage 3 s4 for E55 modified. I also say this because I have owned few B5 S4 since they came out new and want something else. I am not sure how I would feel giving up my built 770 for an E55 modified.

I run meth only for IAT control, so my tune is not utilizing the octane increase of meth. My trap speed on race gas is 121mph, so I would imagine on 91 oct I m more around 114-116mph. I just dont think a lot of people realize how potent the 55 motors are with simple ugrades like a S/C pulley and tune.

You can say that again about another car to care for. I work on BMW's for a living, then come home to have to fix something on the 16 year old Audi only to have my wife say "the mercedes is making this weird noise", so basically, I am wrenching on cars almost 7 days a week.

Wouldn't need to if Audi would bring more RS models and avants over to the US.
new body style e amg's are nuts, wagons are super rare in the states too because us americans love our big suv's, I say go for it, if you can afford one, they are very stout, the 7 speed trans in that model is pretty gaaaanarly too. instead of torq convertor you get a wet clutch pack, so it engages similar to manual/dsg/smg cars, but its more reliable with force feed back and such - where dsg's usually get weak. the engine is super under rated from the factory, just tuning them nails you big freaking gains, plus benz has gotten pretty good with the eco start/stop - the blue fluid in that trans is super light and allows for serious drop in drag and such. its funny cuz I make fun of all this stuff they do, changing fluids and updating little things, then I get down to the engineering side of it in classes and it works. mumbo jumbo that we don't really care about, we just want go fast and reliable and sometimes fuel economy hahahaha . I dare anyone here to drive an E AMG S model with the awd, race start, stock and not get all giggly inside. they are monsters, giant brembo brakes, if you find the right package with carbon ceramics, DONE DEAL. just hovering your foot over the pedal gets you chewing on the steering wheel from g's. but.... its not a manual..... that's really the big negative I have with most benzes and most newer cars...no MAN pedal. I could go on for days and days but really, just go drive one, then try to pick one up used, CPO preferably. they are larger cars, but they don't drive big and they feel really good crusin down the highway with those massaging dynamic seats........

Well my current DD is a 2010 A6 avant with prestige. It's also a larger car like the E63 wagon, just not performance oriented. I wouldn't necessarily need a manual either as I prefer something my wife could also drive sometimes. That car has had my attention for a while though and for once I think they Mercedes wagon looks good, although the back end still doesn't flow as well as Audi avant designs. Im too poor for one right now, but given the history of E63 and their depreciation I can snag one in a few years for a much better bargain considering the amount of performance you get. If I was wealthy Id already have one haha!
    Past (in order): Hibiscus Red B5 A4 ,2003 Audi RS6, B6 s4, UrQuattro, Urs4, Nogaro sport B5 S4 avant, Silver stg 3 B5 s4, 2010 A6 Avant prestige

    Present: Casablance White stg 3 B5 S4 avant, 2002 Audi S6

cheers to you getting one, the E55 in my garage had 66k on it when I got it, 2005... when was it I got it, I think it was 2010 or 2011 I believe it has 6 years old, 27k for a car that retailed for 110k, that's the type of stuff I like hahaha. so happy hunting, no reason to waste all that money up front, be smart and patience and chances are you pick one up from an older person who babied it and has a list of records at the dealer as well.

I did, had an E55 for some time. Way more fun than the S4. Power wise it's nutty..

Here's a couple shots of the old rig. The prior design kit makes it look exceptionally mean
