How come? Are you parting out to trade the car in?

I'm looking to drop an s line suspension in because I'm currently riding on stock non-s line. Not parting out.

    I will have a C6 (2008) s-line suspension up for sale in a week and a half.

Not sure if it is different or not. But if not, you are welcome to buy it.

Oh, gotcha. Wouldn't it be worth while to just get a set of new coilovers though?
You're probably looking at a $300-$400 difference for say ST's but they would be new, and adjustable.
I assume you are installing yourself?

It would be worth it yes, but I have to contend with my wife. She doesn't want me dropping lots of money on mods right now.

Haha! I know that feeling well, my friend!

However, suspension systems on high end German cars can be finicky which can necessitate "repairs", a budget category I have found easier to gain approval for.

Well my thought was to drop S-Line in because it's OEM so I shouldn't have any issues to really worry about, plus when it comes time to sell the car, I won't have to pull it back out. I won't lie, I know that coil overs are the way to go, but even I can't justify dropping that kind of cash. I just bought better wheels so ultimately I just want a bit better handling and a slightly lower ride. Wanna keep that OEM setup as much as possible.

Thanks man. I know it will be super hard to source so I may have to go aftermarket after all. I'm running a C6.5 and an avant on top of that so I think the suspension was unique to those 3 years and that body style.

I thought s line was only aero package and if u wanted a slight drop and stiffer ride you needed the sport package for it.

Hmm maybe. I've always thought that the sports springs and struts were just called "s-line suspension".

If you are not looking for the air suspension then I would be more than happy to let you take mine off my hands. I was planning on selling it after my coils go on anyway.

There is a difference between s-line and non s-line. If you look for the parts it notes “w/sport” or “w/o sport” (and air for 2009+). Part numbers seem to match up, but I haven’t asked an audi tech specifically. I can as when the coils go on if mine would fit you 3.0 if you’d like?

That would be awesome. Yeah I'm not looking to do air. Just want the oem sports and struts to lower my ride height just a bit keep things oem. That's all that my wife allows me, which I'm fine with. I hope that there isn't a difference between Avant and sedan 3.0 sports suspension then.

Be careful here, because all avants in 2008 were badged as "S-line", but it was really just the grille, and some trim bits I believe.

I have a true 2008 S-line avant in that it has the sport seats, perforated leather knob and steering wheel, paddle shifters, black headliner, birch trim and of course, the sport suspension. They are super hard to find, which is why I grabbed as soon as I saw it especially since it was in my favorite color (Daytona Gray). The difference in the sport suspension is significant to that of the regular avants - much stiffer shocks. (I think the spring heights were the same; mine did not seem significantly lower than a non S-line)
That gave me the advantage of dropping it with just using H&R sport springs for $250. I was happy with the drop, and forgoing the adjustability. (I have coilovers on my wife's car, but I have never adjusted them, nor will I).

I am assuming that the suspension will carry over to your car (C6.5) from a C6, but I have never seen a true S-line C6.5 avant which means they are even rarer, if they even exist here.

Yes there is - the rear spring rates are higher on the avant for load bearing. There is a sticker inside the door that gives you the spring rates.

Yup. When I bought mine, I sent the vin to AoA and found that my car is one of 102 in this config. That includes color combo, options etc., so I figure there are probably fewer than 500 true s-line avants out there in any combination. That appearance package I think fooled a lot of people into thinking they were buying an S-line.
My bigger point is that it isn't much lower, and I think by the time you found it and installed it you'd be disappointed with the results. If you are happy with the drop on mine, buy the h&r springs ( specify Avant) and throw those on. Chances are your struts are still robust enough to accommodate the drop. I know there are a few people on here who have done it with C6.5 sedans.

I was originally planning on doing that with my B7(I had a set of H&Rs) but never got around to doing it because my wife was worried that the ride would be too harsh. Myself, I was worried that the springs would significantly shorten the strut life on it. See thats the dilema I have. If I were to get sports springs and sports struts(bilsteins for example), then I would be basically a few hundred bucks away from coil overs - which kind of defeats the whole purpose of having a budget setup. Does your C6 currently have oem sports struts?

Yep. OEM Sport struts, that's why I could do the springs. I see your dilemma though. And I do think the shorter springs will shorten the strut life - most people I know who went that route replaced the struts after a year or so with KYB's the advantage being you are spending a little more, but spreading it over a year or so. Bilsteins are obviously going to be more $$ than the KYB's too, but still a year later.

Incidentally I am running 20X9 et 40 wheels - the ride isn't harsh at all, but it does rub in the back with people or over bumps at speed. I presently have my 18" winters on - no rubbing at all.

Reps. I got them at an awesome price from an AZ member and as it turns out, they're pretty tough. The clear coat is peeling though, so I'll be refinishing them before they go back on this spring. They'll be matte bronze next time you see them.

Not sure if they fit the avant but I have a complete set for sale. They came off my 2011 C6 A6 S-Line. I swapped them with ST coilovers at 38K miles. No problems whatsoever. My ride height before the swap looks just like the picture Quattrocentric posted before the drop. If you're interested PM.

So I found that I agree with Quattrocentric. My s-line suspension (which is indeed sport suspension) will fit on your avant. I have read a number of forum posting of the B7? A4 guys doing the sedan -> avant swap. The concern will be that the avant has a higher spring rate so you might experience a dip in the rear. But, the positive I found is that your engine weights more, so it might level it off. This I do not know for sure though.

Here's the thing though, I don't think that your 08 suspension is the same that they used on the 09 and up. I remember that's one of the things they revised with the release of the C6.5. I could be wrong though.

    Update:

Here are the parts numbers for the 08 sedan and 09 avant struts:

    08 Sedan 3.2

    Front: 4F0413031AN
    Rear: 4F0513032AG

    09 Avant 3.0T
    Front: 4F0413031BS
    Rear: 4F0513032AG

It appears that the rears are identical but the fronts might be different. Springs are the same for both years and body styles.

Update #2: Yeah the fronts are definitely different. They were used on the 3.0T and 4.2. That would make sense because both engines weigh more than the 3.2. The rears were the same throughout the entire lineup for all years. Tbh it seems pretty hard to acquire without going the new route so I dunno, I'll probably just save up for coilovers at the end. Seems like going the budget route isn't going to work.

Here are the parts numbers for the 08 sedan and 09 avant struts:

Interesting about the rear springs being the same. When I bought my Avant, my thinking was that I would swap over the ST coilovers from my wife's 2006 sedan, but the spring rate difference for the rears made me decide against it. Maybe they beefed up the rears on the sedan in 2008? The fronts were interchangeable.

See, I was thinking that too. In the aftermarket realm, they are different for sedan vs Avant. Just checked H&R's website.

Hey, I have a set of S-line "Sport" suspension off of my '07 avant. In great condition, replaced with coilovers. In order to work for you, you would need to either put the springs on your exisiting shocks, or if you want alittle stiffer, purchase 2 front shocks.

Shoot me an offer! Down to get you a good deal so you have the funds to make them work.

I also get really cheap rates on shipping through my work, so that will help as well.
