    Exclamation Audi Allroad Fender Rolling?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Posted in the Avant thread but I think this might get more traction here. I want to fit 20x11 et28 wheels on my Allroad. I will be lowering the car on coilovers and want there to be very minimal gap between the tire and fender. I have been told by some that fitting a wheel this wide on an Allroad will require modding the fenders, especially because of my desired ride height. Tires are also a factor here and because I do not want to run a super stretched look, I am wondering what I would need to do if I ran 275-20-30 on a 20x11 et28 wheel?

Has anyone who is running this size modified their Allroad fenders? If so, would love to hear what you did. I understand that grinding down the inner plastic is what is required, perhaps I am wrong here and maybe there is another way?

    Thanks in advance.

I was just wondering this myself. The fenders are molded plastic. You couldn't "roll" them, in a classic sense. I think you'd have to trim the plastic lip from the inner edge. Might lose some rigidity in the process though. Hopefully you don't end up with floppy fenders.

Thanks for the feedback. This is my concern, that the fenders lose their rigidity. I am hoping there isn't much to it but in the end, I realize that it all depends on how low I go and what tire I choose.

If I go with an 11" wide wheel ans 275-30-20 tires, I will definitely need fender work. If I go with a 255-30-20 tire, I am running the stretch look which I am not a fan of and even then, fender work is likely required.

Hoping for some "real world" feedback from those that have done it before. From what I can tell, most that have gone with wider wheels on their Allroads simply raise their cars to a more reasonable height. In that case, I would just go 20x10" with a 255-30-20 tire.

TSW has put 20X10.5 et25 on the allroads they sponsor. Although I am not sure what size tires they are using. I think it looks perfect with the drop they have. I believe these cars are just on coil overs as well.

I have seen that vid...drop is perfect...that's pretty much where I want to be but I just don;t want to rub.

I have to make a decision soon on my wheels...so tempted to go 20x11 but don't want to deal with the headaches of rubbing etc.

I haven't explored this too deeply, but if you take a look under the plastic flares there is quite a bit of metal around the wheel well that's right behind the plastic flares. I imagine that could be rolled a bit.

I think 20x10 would be ideal and I'm sure you can fit 265/30/20.

I am running 20 x 10 with 275 x 30X 20 on my allroad, and I had to roll the ft metal inside the wheel wells as the tire would grab it and pull it down when entering drive ways that were not even that steep. In the rear I still need to trim the plastic it has cut into the sidewalls of both tires twice now... Do yourself a favor, go 20 x 10 and forget the 11" stuff especially if you have changed your mind again and are moving away from AIR...

I'm running 20x10.5 without no issues, only had to remove the top liner screws on the front.

This is what I will likely have to do...20x10 with a 265-30-20 tire.

I don't think I would go 275 on any wide set up, 255 or, 265 seem to be what's recommended however, it all depends on how low I go. I will have to play around with it I guess.

I have not ruled going air just yet, but I am going coilovers to start and will do air afterwards. I live in Canada and fear the reliability curing the winter months.

Interesting. Would be good to know what tire size you are running...offset?

at some point running too wide of a tire is inefficient. I would stick with a 265 at the most

265 is easy to say, but there's a pretty slim selection when compared to 275. Not to mention really pricey.

I'm not a big fan of the stretch tire look I had bought 265 tires and it was too much tire for my car ( Lowered on air ) 255 if just perfect
    Hope this helps

20x10.5 et 25 with 275/30/20s finger gap all day. Daily driver and on NorCal roads. Just have to be careful.
Every time I walk up to to my car I smile... Flying off the off ramp and pulling like a train around the corner..... Smile. That smile is worth it .... To me that is.
Remember that all tires are not the same size from brand to brand.

Was wondering which brand tire has a more rounded fit. This way the 275 would fit without rubbing.
