    PDC troubleshooting (rear working/not working)

    Hey guys,

I have a problem with the PDC.
The front sensors are working normally.
The rear sensor work only when an obstacle is really close to the car (20cm).

VCDS showed no faults, also the OEM VW tester showed no faults. I have no idea where to search...
Additional: One thing I noticed when listening to the sensors is that two at the back are clicking more silently than the other two.

Did anybody have any experience like this and how did he resolve it?

First make sure that the sensors are clean and angled in the rear bumper correctly. Sometimes dirt or snow buildup gets in there and messes with the readings. Then if sensors are not angled properly, like they are pushed in, can cause issues too.

Next, with the engine off but ignition on put the shifter into reverse. Ideally you would do this with nothing behind you. Then with your VCDS go into measuring value blocks for the PDC and find the channel with the sensor readings. They should all be the same of like 200-300 something. Once you find the sensor readings have someone walk up behind the car to see the sensor readings change. Play with the distances and which sensors the person gets close to. Let us know what you find.

Will do that. Thank you Jimmy!

Just to leave feedback on the thread. The issue basically solved it self and the rear sensor started working normally again.

This probably confirms Jimmy's assumption that the connectors just didn't have contact. Gotta love those self fixing German cars!
