Rev Motoring B7 Lowering Springs Review

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    Hi all!
I am proud to say that I have finally installed my Rev Motoring lowering springs for the B6/B7 Audi, and I LOVE THEM. Hopefully this review will help those that are on the fence with lowering their B7 A4, but are trying to stick to a budget. My main selling point on these springs was that they were designed to be installed with the factory struts/shocks, and that they were designed in a way to create front rake for the B7, which is what all B7's deserve So, without further adieu, here is my review!

    Impressions:
First off, I will say that I have the sport suspension, so this review is little more relatable to those that have the red sport shocks and struts. These springs are very well made from their appearance and they are 100% made in the USA! (big plus in my book!). The fitment was perfect on all 4 corners, no issues whatsoever with the installation of these springs. Overall, A++.

    Ride Quality:
These springs are excellent. They are definitely stiffer than factory, but they still have some give to them that makes them comfortable; it is a healthy balance of the two. I feel like my B7 is on rails now! Steering is very responsive and it hugs the road. You will feel more of the imperfections in the roads, but who doesn't when they lower their car?? This is to be expected, and did not surprise me. I feel these are the perfect solution for those that can't spend a ton on suspension but want to remove the wheel gap, and it's not a "cheap" option to just replace springs, it is very cost effective and achieved exactly what I wanted. Highly recommend these springs to any B7 owner.

    Conclusions/Results:
I am incredibly satisfied and happy with the results. I can't wait to see if the springs settle a bit over the next couple weeks. I have included a ton of pictures below that should give you a good idea of what these springs offer for the B7 platform. Again, this is an install with sport struts and shocks, so it may be slightly different for those with standard struts/shocks.

I highly recommend these springs. 10/10 in my book.

    Right Height:
Before: I was 26.6" front and 25.75" in the rear.

After: I am now 25.4" front and and 25.5" in the rear. So that is a 1" drop in the front and 1/4" drop in the rear. Pretty much the same measurement all around, give or take an 1/8", but it definitely gives the car the appearance of front rake. Which makes it look sooooooo goood!!

Yes I know my bushings are all shot, I didn't have time to order in replacements. I'll do this later in the year. I did install new upper strut mounts, so that's good.

How come you installed the springs with the "rev motoring" writing upside down?

this drop looks really good, without the need for the b5 caps too. How many miles on those stock shocks though?

Care to take more side shots of the car?
Angles need to be a tad be lower to see the height better.

Honestly, I wasn't paying attention to that they are symmetrical springs top to bottom, so it wouldn't matter which way the lettering went. But I do admit, for pictures sake it would have made more sense. There was no rhyme or reason to installing them that way, just lack of attention to detail.

Rev Motoring B7 Lowering Springs Review

Wonder how these would compare to the pro kit in terms of comfort.

You mention stiffer, but they should only be 10% more IIRC.

I have no idea how they would compare to the pro kit. As far as stiffer, yes that's what they are. 10% seems about right! I'm not sure I understand your comment because they are in fact stiffer light the manufacturer states!

I am not familiar with the Q-sports suspension? What is that?

And also, thanks! I really like them too. All it is is a muffler delete and then we welded these in their place! (with some fabrication of course). Here is a link to them on Amazon:

And as a ps,AFAIK all the quattro's sold in this country were S-lines,so the suspension upgrade may be as part of that package...

I have a sound clip of the exhaust in my introduction/progress thread. It has really given the car a presence on the road but without anyway drone or cabin annoyances. And it was really simple to do.

And that's interesting! I know it definitely is not that way in the US. haha

Has the suspension settled much? Can you take GTF measurements again if it has?

I can tell it has settled a little, but it's only been 3 days since I completed the install. I will get some measurements tonight and see what I come up with, but I don't expect a huge difference!

Measured again quick and found it to be 25.25" Front and 25" Rear, but that is because I have a full tank of gas now

Just checking in to see how these springs (and shocks) are holding out. I am always wary of springs that claim you don't need to upgrade your shocks. The drop and the price looks fantastic, but wanted to double check before pulling the trigger.

I understand your concerns and I had the exact frame of thought before pulling the trigger on these.

With that being said, these springs (I'll reiterate that I installed these on my factory sport struts/shocks) have not only settled to perfect height (about a 1/4" lower than install day) I wanted but they are feeling better and better each day I drive. I love the functionality of the height but the added stiffness and sportiness of this solid suspension upgrade. I feel the road more, I feel like I have more control over the handling etc. It just makes the car feel very solid to me.

I know it is just my opinion, but coming from a happy customer of these springs, I don't think you have anything to worry about!

Now, all you need are spacers in the meantime until you get wheels.

Awesome! And yeah, I have 15mm spacers lined up with a friend, wheels will be way off in the future...they don't exactly fit the budget right now lol

Rev Motoring B7 Lowering Springs Review

    Two month update:

I've had these springs installed now for two months! I LOVE THEM. The suspension has settled nicely at 25" FTG in the front and 24.875" in the rear. 1/8" difference overall is amazing to me and gives it that sporty look with no reverse rake. Ride quality is very much still existent, it idea stiffer than stock sport suspension but has retained the comfort for everyday driving. I can't recommend these springs enough! Very budget friendly, installed with no issues, and their lowering characteristics and ride quality speak for themselves. I am a very happy customer.

I recently installed 15mm spacers on the rear wheels and I really like the profile it gave the back end.

    Excuse the currently dirty A4:

Bumping this 2 year old thread, since I recently picked up a set of these springs from an AZ member. OP, have your factory shocks held up after installing these springs? I've heard people warn against lowering springs without upgrading shocks, just curious on your thoughts.

2 years later and the springs are still awesome. Same with my sport struts/shocks. They are still tight and are not blown out or leaking, no signs of issues either visually or functionally. Now I will put my disclaimer in that every situation is different and this is only how it worked out for me, I also have sport struts/shocks, so standard height shocks might not do as well considering they are designed a bit softer and for a "higher" ride height. That being said, on standard shocks I might not have had the same experience, but on the sport shocks it has been a breeze.

Car still feels sporty, tight handling and a great overall appearance with how they sit. Still recommend even after two years! Sometimes I even forget that I ever installed them, they feel that good.

Good to know as i'm swapping to new Bilstein shocks now on my avant and saw this thread as maybe an option to do a mild drop on my Sport Suspension avant.
