Some of you may find this interesting.
I use Krystal Kleen Details R Evolve X. Its normally applied in 2 methods, apply a nice layer smoothly and leave or apply 2 layers with buffing after each application. The latter method is better if your not comfortable applying ceramics as its easier to get a smear free finish.
However, there is a third and I use that method. Airbrush neat product. For intricate design wheels its much easier than trying to get some applicator in to those awkward parts and when you only have around 10mins before the product starts to harden then this really is the best way.
A quick vid. 2 coats on to every surface. By this I mean I would do the left hand side of the spokes first moving in a clockwise direction twice. Then the right hand side of the spoke etc and continue this until every different aspect had 2 coats. Then do a general spray over and check for defects. If any are there simply buff then reapply. It took me around 5-7mins to do a wheel and thats being generous. He's a very quick vid and some pics below. The coating does apply a gloss so these are satin bronze and it will give them a bit of a shine. If applying to a matt finish wheel it will make it more satin.
Even though brand new, unprepared and dirty. A quick wipe down with an IPA mix and good to go.
Cleaned and coated and after spending 5 mins in front of a heater to help the product flash in this cold weather.
On the left, untreated, on the right treated and after 5 mins in front of the heater. Heater not needed if in above 8deg C or so.
The cheap airbrush unit from eBay :)
