    Wheel Size Help

I've been running on the stock 16" ever since I bought the car. Now that my tires are almost shot, I wanted to see if I can change the wheels as well. There's a sweet deal on a set of 17" wheels + tires. Just wondering if they'd fit on our B7 A4 since the seller is taking them off his B8 A4.

    Wheel specs: 8x17, ET 47, center bore = 66.6mm
    Tires: 245/45/17

The wheels looks pretty awesome in condition!

Edit: I just realized that I have a choice between the wheel-tire mentioned above & a 18" set for the same price from a 2009 A4 wagon with 245/40z r18 tires. But I would have to change 2 tires quite immediately. Since they're both the same price, I'm considering the former because of the tire condition but I've always preferred an 18" to a 17" :) I like both wheel designs, so that factor is out the window. Would this also fit on our cars?

    Thanks! That's a good tool!!

I forgot to mention that I'm running 12.5mm spacers just to bring the tire wall flush with the body (I forget if they're 12.5 all around or 10mm at the back but I'm sure it's 12.5 on the front). Can I still use these? Will there be too much protrusion?

Also, I'm reading I'd need a hub ring to step up from 57.1mm to 66.6m CB. I don't know what my CB is...! I'm looking at these: http://www.amazon.com/4pcs-Aluminum-...words=57+to+66

If needed, can I use the hub rings with the spacers? Theoretically, they should all stack up concentrically, right?

Center bore is larger on the B8 as you noted. Other than that they should work fine. The spacers are a trial and error kinda thing, put them on if you like how they look you're good to go. Don't like them get different spacers. All depends on the wheel offset (which I've never understood very well)

    I did't even know B7's came with 16's.

Just put your offset 12.5mm more. When you recalculate your original offset shoul be 57.5. If you want to try to run your new wheel with spacer just add 12.5 to the new wheel offset. Yes b7 is 57.1.

You can run both the spacer and hub ring all together just make sure the hub ring sit perfectly on the new wheel center bore or better if the hub ring has an outer lip.

    Hope it helps

Personally I'd go with 18s. I think 17s still look a bit small on a b7. It depends on the wheel style as well. Split 5 17" wheels which come with most b7s look fine too.

For the spacers, it depends on wheel width and offset. I do not like using spacers. Try finding the wheels with correct offset and hub size from the get go. But if you like the wheels and only offset is holding you off, go for them and use spacers. However, I will definitely recommend against hub conversion rings plus spacers. I just don't like the idea of two extra parts to hold the wheels to the hub. Even a small imperfection on the machining of spacers/ conversion rings can be a cause of vibration in certain speeds. I've had fair share of headache chasing vibration with spacers in my other car.

Change the tires to all new if possible.

A agree with using the 18s. You can still run a 235/40/18 tire and they look great.Spacers can be added after dependign what you need/want

Yeah, I guess it's personal preference with the spacers. Btw, from your signature... are you using the Ziza halogens or Xenons? I'm looking for as-white-as-can-be halogens.

Thanks for that... for some reason willtheyfit.com was saying it's gonna poke out by 10mm more than my current setup which is pretty much the spacer. So, I thought my calculations were off. Anyway, I guess I'll put 'em on and see.

Yeah, I would prefer the 18s as well... I've wanted 18s for a while but the 18s that I'm currently looking at have 2 worn tires & slight curb rash... so I'll have to replace them quickly and the entire point of changing wheels for me is to get tires as well. It also doesn't make much sense for me to only replace 2 tires, might as well put new ones on all 4. And the seller is about 70mi from me... So, it seems moot to get new wheels... :( Whereas the 17s come with pretty much brand new tires and they're the same price!

Btw, below are the 17s & 18s. Both are stock B8 wheels... I'm hoping they look good with the curvier body of the B7.

I run 10/15 spacers with my 18 inch titanium wheels. 235/40.

And neither, the Ziza lights are in the interior. I have stock Xenons so I have no plans to change those, and run yellow fog bulbs. I have LEDs in the DRLs though that I love.
