does anyone have any ideas on how to remove the headrest on a a5? i tried looking for the push lock in the upper back of the seat and had no luck finding it? i have the electric adjustable headrest if that makes a difference.

Reviving this old thread because I need to open up the A5 headrest so I can quiet down a slight rattle that the posts are hitting against the internal parts in the headrest itself that is very slight but enough to drive me crazy. Anyone knows how to remove them it would be very appreciated.

Were you able to adjust your headrests? I have never been able to find the button to allow them to come out.

No not yet. I'm still trying to figure out the diagram.

    Bump
Does anyone have motorized headrests? My driver’s headrest doesn’t move up and down like my passenger one does. It goes up about 4mm and halts. I’m not sure if it is stuck on something or what. Maybe I have to remove it... has this “hidden button” worked for anyone? Any insight would be much appreciated.

Stupid question, you do know that on the side of the seat, moving the vertical seatback knob up/down controls the head rest. Took me a while to realize this.

Ha! Yeah I'm aware of the headrest/vertical knob... Problem is that the it only goes up slightly on my driver's side, but fully on my passenger's. I'm not sure if the lack of movement is a safety feature for the driver or what... I'll try and post a picture later today.

First image is the driver side that doesn’t seem to reach the full height potential. The second image is the passenger side which I assume is the height both headrests should reach.

Have you tried tilting the driver seat back or forward and see if it goes higher?

I’ve tried the tilting method you speak of. I feel like the headrest is caught on something internally in the seat... Is taking the seat material off somewhat easy? I feel like it’s the only way I’m going to be able to acces the headrest posts and hidden removal button.
