The door chime, low fuel chime and turn signal click does not work on my 2010 audi a4 b8. Anyone else have this issue? How do I fix it?

It's my wife's car and she says she doesn't mind it being quiet so might leave it alone. Only problem is if there is an actual problem like low tire pressure, overheat, there will be no warning sound. I am surprised nobody else has had this problem?

The instrument cluster should still visually display something if there is an alert such as tpms or door open.
someone may have changed the chimes via VAGCOM at some point in the car's life.

Hello, any guess where to check first if I have silent turn signal on A4 B8 Avant `10? No click. One morning the it was gone. Just like that.
All other sounds seems to be there...

I am the original owner, I have never modified the car. The chimes and turn signal click just shut off one day. I have no warranty so leaving as is until someone has an answer. I would expect this has happened to someone else before and had it fixed. Right now we have two people with the issue, so there are more out there....

Probably will need a new instrument cluster to fix this issue....$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

Now turn signals do not work at all, along with the chime being silent, not working. 4 WAY flashers/hazards work, but turn signals do not.

And now, a couple hours later, the turn signals work again. Still no chime though.

Not sure how or where they chimes come on these cars. But usually on most VW and Audis early models were a large relay that had a speaker for the door chimes and key etc. There may be another relay for the signal chirps. I'd look at fuses and relays first.

All fuses were fine, I checked every single fuse. I am thinking a speaker died like explained in this vw thread. But that doesn't explain why the external turn signals stopped working (and gave since came back)

try disconnecting the negative terminal of the battery in the trunk for 10 minutes and reconnect to see if that helps. good luck

Can I swap instrument clusters to have the one with the color display? I have the red display now. 2010 a4 b8
I just bought the cluster with color from eBay for $135 figured it's worth trying for that price! I am guessing I can't do it without dealer reprogramming something, but like I said, $135 is probably less than sales tax on the dealer part so worth a shot.

OK I bought a color display cluster from ebay. Howver, I bought one from a A5 instead of a A4 by mistake. Do you think it will matter? The ad said it was brand new, never used.
I will be trying it no matter what. It will be a good experiment and if it works, I will write it up and take a video of it.
Being brand new, I would think that I could then drive it to a dealer and have them program it with the correct mileage.
If this does not work I will be kind of mad, but at least I know where I can get a A4 used one from Ebay now.
Still cheaper than going to the dealer and paying $1,000

If its correct part matching with your old cluster type - fuel, acc with or w/o etc its ok, you also need new mmi screen trim/surround and left vent trim piece.

I finally figured out this problem. For anyone with this issue where the open door chime and turn signal don't make any noise suddenly:
There is a speaker in the instrument cluster that loses its connection.
GOOD NEWS: You can fix it FOR FREE with only 2 tools! A 8mm socket on a 4-6 inch extension for the instrument cluster bolts, and a small T-10 torx screwdriver for the cluster screws.
Here is why the speaker did not work.... The speaker is NOT SOLDERED TO THE BOARD! WHAT THE HELL? It is held on with plastic legs, and the 2 connectors are just bendy-metal tabs!
So I took the speaker off (by pulling it gently, didn't take any pressure) and bent the tabs more so they would make a tighter connection, pushed it back in, put the screws back in, and put it in the car.
So I paid about $600 and two trips to the dealer for something I could have fixed FOR FREE in a parking lot! Ooooh I'm so mad! Still better than $1500 the dealer would have charged, but son of a monkey goat freak show!
    Steps to fix:
    1. Remove Plastic surround from MMI/Radio display. Simply pull along the bottom with your hands, it comes right off. Do not disconnect the hazard button/abs light, just let it hang or flip ontop the dash.
    2. Remove the Plastic surround from left most vent. Again, Pull. It comes off.
    3. Lower steering wheel all the way down, and pull on the plastic trim under the cluster. It is stubborn, but it comes away, then push it down so you can get to the bottom cluster bolt.
    4. Remove 3 bolts that old the cluster in. Watch the bottom one! Don't let the bolt fall or its gone forever. Use a piece of tape on your socket or a magnet.
    5. Pull cluster forward, then the right side of cluster towards you, so you can see the connector, which is on the left side. There is a orange lever that you have to flip up on the connector. then the connector comes right off.
    6. Pull out cluster.
    7. Take 8 screws off the back of the cluster.
    9. Unclip the clips, and take the black back plastic off the cluster. You don't have to take the gauges out, just the back piece so you can see the speaker. See pics below.
    10. Pull off the speaker (just pull, the little bastard comes right off)
    11. Bend the pins out on the speaker a bit so that they will make better contact.
    12. Push the speaker back in place. Screw everything together, put the cluster back in, and you are done!

Do you mean engine running or ignition on - open door chin?

Yea I meant the ignition on chime when I have running lights one and door open. And this would get rid of all the chimes which I don't like anyway

I like that idea. Sometimes I hear sort of a reverberation type sound in chime. I wonder if that poor connection problem has anything to do with it. I wouldnt mind a disconnection there. The chime drives me crazy sometimes when I just want to keep my door open for a few seconds and lights or the engine is still running or something. I would sort of miss the turn signal sound but I could live without that.

Yea same boat here next time I pull the cluster I'll have to disconnect the speaker. The green turn indicators are well bright enough that I won't miss the turn sounds. Afaik there is no vag com for the ignition on chime(just seat belts and lights) so this disconnect could be a quick mod if you hate the chime like me
