Rev Match Media - Project B5

Hello everyone,

I purchased a 2001 Audi S4 here in Texas off of a Craigslist find. The car was listed for a part out, but I had to save it from that fate. I've have tried about 3x to purchase a B5 S4, and each time it was snaked from under me.

This time, I made sure pull the trigger before anyone else could!

Rev Match Media is a media company and friend and I started this year. We are using the B5 as a project car.

We're released 2 video updates to this car, and will be releasing several more as we build a fun weekend track car.

Ya, we posted our first video on the B5 group on Facebook about a month ago, and he didn't mind. It is also a pretty common hashtag on social media for people building the chassis.

We will try to collaborate with him on the build soon more than likely.

You'd think that's a good thing and while I'd agree to an extent, that means there are many hidden unpleasant surprises that could be waiting too. Many of these cars have had previous owners who took all kinds of ridiculous short cuts to do things on the cheap (or not do things properly at all).

This is why we are taking extra precaution with this car. This one has 162k on the odometer, so I want to make sure it doesn't blow up on me during a track day.

The Timing belt job is being done right now, and we also found an APR Snub mount!!

She does have a misfire we are also troubleshooting too.

I will report back later tonight.

I also picked up some 255/40/17 Bridgestone Potenza RE11A tires for my 17x8.5 SSR Type C's that will make their way into Project B5.

Latest update:

Vehicle drives great after Timing belt job according to Alpachino.

Front bumper is trashed btw.

It looks like the vehicle had a Drive Train stabilizer and 1/3 of it is left. We will be potentially dropping the sub frame to look into this further. The rest is missing which could explain the fender damage on the passenger side and also broken control arm.

RS4 Motor mounts going on car this week and also dropping the sub frame and drilling out the bolt stud of what is left of the DTS.

Also picked up a Blue 1999 A4 passenger fender to replace the one that is trashed. By the looks of it, this will be a harlequin S4 until I can get my hands on some vinyl.

The A4 "sideskirt" trim mounts are different than the the S4's, just a heads up, not that you cant fab up a fix. is a it a 99 or 99.5, the 99 is prefacelift and i think has another small difference at the headlight area and side marker sizing.

I did notice the lower side trim being different and am aware of the side marker. Wasn't aware of the headlight area. If this doesn't work, I will just practice my widebody technique on this fender lol. It was only 45 bucks and I only bought 2 days of warranty for a return. I dont think its on the car yet.

My ultimate fear is further damage also, but if that's the case I will just pull the motor and part out the car while looking for a solid shell. This car totally has money in it with all of the parts we found, but there is no telling what other damage we will find until we keep going.

I was able to pick up the following from a post-facelift A4 in I believe Ebony Pearl.

Driver side Fender
Passenger side fender
Driver side door (the entire door)

This is being installed this week along with new motor mounts, removal of DTS bar (whats left of it), and also some other minor issues being addressed.

I was able to film a bit of this work to begin the process of cutting Episode 3 of our build.

When we first published the videos on the B5 facebook group you stated the fact that we used "Project B5" which happens to be your business name didn't matter to you. If I need to dig up that chat on the B5 group, I gladly will.

We at no point have suggested being or having any sort of association with your website and company in any of the 3 videos.

Putting the name "project" in front of a Chassis is pretty common for builds IMO.

If you have an issue with this, please PM me so we can discuss this matter privately.

Anywho, I'm like 5 months late, but here was the link to our 4th video.




Since this video was shot, we've been focusing on the vehicle's exterior and interior.

We scored a Laser red front bumper, lower grills (for fogs), a plate filler, Sports mirrors, Sports interior, new door cards with aluminum trim, and are sporting the 19's from our S3. All this and more will be covered in our next episode.
