Misfire in Cylinder 1 After CCT Replacement

Hello, I hve a 2001 audi a4 1.8t, and recently replaced the Cam Chain Tensioner! The car was working fine before the job with the exception of the noise coming from the CCT, but other than that it drove ok! I replaced the chain also because my old one looked worn out when I removed the valve cover! I marked the old chain and transferred the marks to the new chain and triple checked before installing! My exhaust cam didn't move, because it is on the timing belt with the crank, and the marks on the cam and crank sprocket still line up! So which leads me to believe that my intake cam is off time! When installing the cams I followed the Bentley manual instructions and had a friend double check before going any further! I counted 16 rollers lined up in between the notches! When I put the car back together, it started ok but has a rough idle and code P0301 and P0201 Misfire in Cylinder 1! My old Vw threw this code when the timing belt was off 1 tooth, and when timed correctly had no Issues! If anyone could point me in the right direction it would be appreciated! thanks. here a a few pics I took before reinstalling the valve cover!

I think p0201 is an injector code (not 100% sure of top of my head) but if you maybe pitched the injector harness under the valve cover or something along those lines. A bad injector will cause miss fire

Here are some better pictures with the Tensioner tool removed! I hand cranked 2 full revolutions, and marks all seem to line up still, I just noticed when I removed my valve cover again, that one of the head studs was abit loose! Iv never had this happen so im not sure if that throws misfire codes because of the pressure leak! I Bought 9 new head studs and bolts anyway today, so im going to drill and re-thread all the studs to ensure proper a proper seal! Anyone else had the same loose valve cover issue with the same P0301 P0201 codes? I got all new plugs while I was out also!, just to check that off my elimination list! Im thinking oil may have leaked into the spark plug wells... Plugs didn't look the greatest!

Firstly, EXCELLENT photos of your timing. I mean, it's always hard to get good pictures from people so we can be sure stuff is right. 10/10, A+, would buy again.

Secondly, your timing is perfect. Nice job. You are correctly counting the links, everything is spot on. Go Team.

Thirdly, Quattro420 is absolutely correct. P0201 is an injector code: P0201 - Cyl.1, Injector Circuit Fault in electrical circuit

Most probably, a wire was broken when you moved things around to get the valve cover off. Not your fault, they are likely to be PROPER CRISPY at this point. Peel back the rubber boot near the injector connector and take a look. If the wires are roasted and broken, that's where it will generally be.

Thank You Walky_Talky20 and Quattro420, As you can see in the picture, you were both correct! im not sure when it happened, but I do know now, that wires and hoses in The extreme Arizona heat can make things quite crispy! I was replacing the Braided Vacuum line earlier while I was in there and they were very brittle, and snapped when trying to bend to remove them, along with 2 other breather hoses!
Got the new harness and hoses on the way, so I will update this thread when they are replaced! again, thank you both!

Again with the good photos, this guy! In focus and everything!

Glad you found your problem. OBD2 diagnostic trouble codes for the win.
