    Yet another issue. Windows.

Just installed a new alternator on the s4 and everything is working fine. But for some reason the window switch is acting up. All the windows except driver window is 1 touch. And the 2 back windows are backwards. So the left switch moves the right window and vice versa. Nothing was touched. Only disconnect the battery during the alternator install. Was disconnected for about 2 or 3 days. Is there something I have to do or something I didn't do when reinstalling the battery? Thanks

Can't speak to battery removal and how it affects windows but, every now and then my window will act up and 1 touch won't work. What I'll do is roll it up completely, roll it down completely, and back up again and that usually fixes it.

Thanks I'll try that when I get home but any ideas on why the left switch would be opening the right window and vice versa?

1 touch will start to work again after a few starts of the car. Disconnecting the battery resets the controller.

1 touch is reset after battery is disconnected. With the window all the way up roll it all the way down and hold for 3 seconds then roll all the way up and hold for 3 seconds. You should have one touch windows again.

    ^ What he said.

When I worked for VW we would just roll them up/down a couple times whenever the battery was disconnected.

We also would reprogram people's stations. Don't know what happened to that practice though.

I seem to remember playing with the switches a long time ago and them not being an on/off thing.
They were coded with resistors with different values that changed as they were switched to identify location.
Maybe dirty/more ohms and thinking a different window?
Was so long ago it may have been something else I was playing with though.
There are only 2 things needed to make an Audi work properly - Duct tape and WD40. If it moves and it shouldn't - Duct tape. If it doesn’t move and it should - WD40.

Got the one touch to work after opening them and closing them a few times but still backwards only on the master switch. And everything looked clean when I did my speakers a few weeks ago. No corrosion or anything. Tomorrow gonna take the door panel off and see if I disconnect the switch and reconnect it if it'll take care of the issue.

For my car at least, my one touch doesn't seem to work on the driver's side after discoing the batt until I enter the security code for the symphony.

I have an aftermarket radio but like everyone said up and down a few times and one touch was back. As for the windows being backwards I guess last time I took off the door panel I switched the plugs and hadn't noticed because it's been cold and snowing. Thanks for all the help👍👍
