On a scale from 1 to 10, how bad do my motor mounts needs replaced? Or is the purple stuff enough to tell if they need replaced or not? Is it worth replacing with the Febi B5 S4 mounts?

    Thanks guys.

I'm not an expert here, but if they were never replaced, do it. I recently replaced mine with heavy duty mounts from Passat.

If they are leaking the purple fluid that is inside them, they need replaced. How badly they need replaced would depend on how good or bad the rubber around them looks. It's hard to tell with the images posted, but I would at least plan to replace them at the next service interval.

ok thanks. I'll take a look at the rubber like you said. I just rolled over 100k miles, so my next service is due pretty much right now. I think I'll go with the S4 mounts though.

Just replace them now, it can be a harder job later if the mounts become completely destroyed. I recommend removing the nut and cutting the stud off the old ones to make removal easier. I'd also recommend cutting some length off the stud on the new mounts to make install easier.

Its it easier to remove the brackets or cut the bolt down and jack the engine up a little? Going to be doing this on my 3.0 as soon as it warms up.
