    Brakes Randomly Getting Stuck?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
So my '03 A4 recently started acting up. Brakes are sticking after having the pedal depressed. Getting a load squeaking then rasping noise upon stopping. I'll be taking the calipers off tomorrow and taking a look but I figured I'd see if anyone has had this problem. I found a thread with a somewhat similar discussion but their problem started after having replaced some brake parts. Only thing that was different was that I removed all the wheels to refinish them; and then after they were installed again, the devils war-cry started. =( Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks

I'm only hearing/feeling the front as of now. They'll sometimes disengage independently of each other (the left/right brake will release after letting off the pedal, and then the other side follows)

Do you know when the brake fluid was flushed last time?

Either the caliper pistons are sticking or the caliper guide pins are sticking.

I just bought it a couple months ago and I've been updating it little by little so I'm not sure if or when the previous owner did it.

    AKA: grease or polishing?

I suspect the calipers need to be disassembled and the pistons and cylinders cleaned of any corrosion due to water in the brake fluid. If the corrosion is bad enough, replace the calipers.
