Are struts covered under Audi CPO warranty?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
My S5 as at the dealer trying to uncover a rattling noise. Tech says he thinks its from the front struts. He says Audi CPO does not cover struts. Here is the CPO agreement http://microsites.audiusa.com/…/2010...nty_Brochure.… I do not see where struts are excluded. Any advice for me?

The rattling (sounds like someone is gently and slowly crumpling an aluminum can) only occurs at low speeds. If I go faster and over bumpier roads it stops. Would this suggest that it COULD NOT be the suspension components (should get louder when its faster and bumpier)

your link doesn't work but I found this:
    https://www.audiusa.com/content/dam/...ty-Booklet.pdf

Under what is covered it states:
"Suspension - front axle sub frame, control arm supports, control arms, wheel bearing housing, steering knuckle, front wheel hub, coil springs,
stabilizer bar, stabilizer links, rear axle beam and support, stub axles, rear bearings and housings, rear springs."

    No mention of struts :(

Anyways as far as what the problem could be, I found this thread: http://www.audiforums.com/forum/b5-m...t-left-151865/
People are also reporting only during slow speeds and its the upper strut mount. Maybe you can get another opinion from another dealer?

Thanks for this. So if struts are not covered, strut mounts probably will not be covered ?

It doesn't list strut mounts either so they are not covered

when you buy coil over kits, do they typically come with improved strut mounts? If not, who makes aftermarket ones?

There is a TSB about the outside brake caliper spring making noises when going over bumps, you can brake when hitting the bump and noise go away. Of course car is at dealer now, hopefully they figure it out. The sound sounds similar to the sound you are describing.

Ask the dealer to show you in writing where it says that it isn't covered.

Under the "What IS covered" part of the CPO it says: "This list is not inclusive. See your Audi service representative for specific items."

Under the "What is NOT covered" part it does not specifically list struts as being excluded from coverage.

So it looks like there are two possible outcomes we can take from that:

    1) The dealer holds the complete list of items that are covered under CPO, and should be able to provide it for you.

    2) There is no complete list of what is covered and it is up to the dealer to decide if they want to or not.

Let us know how it goes but I would make the dealer give you more information on why they claim its not covered.

Yikes I didn't think it was that much. If anyone knows of a pdf version online, that would be great. Im going to ask my dealer once I finally get around to going there. Im assuming they'll have no trouble providing it for me?
