Brief rattle noise upon cold start up

So I've noticed that if my car sits for a few days without being driven, it makes a brief rattling sound upon first startup. I've been Googling this for the past hour and it seems like a normal thing on the 3.0T(C7 and B8 S4s mostly).

The car is a 2009 and has 60k on the odo. I don't think it's chain stretch or the tensioners as I would hear the noise from that area constantly. Based on my search inquiry the reason for the noise is because of oil draining off of the camshaft adjusters during long periods of standstill and thus for a brief moment that sound is made until pressure builds. Can anyone confirm?

Btw, it sounds exactly like this:

I have a C6 07 3.2L and it only has done that brief rattle when it is below freezing temps outside somewhere in the range of below 15 °F - 9.4 °C. I thought it the radiator fan because after driving it for a bit and starting it again there was no noise. If its cold outside i will try to get it recorded on the camera because i am unsure of what it is my self. Sounds terrible though!

Lol yeah it does. The car did sit in my garage for two months without being driven so it is most definitely a cold start lol.

Believe it or not they're so special apparently they must be driven or they could develop issues. At least that is what I was told by my mechanic. There could be some truth to it. If you got someone just to start it for couple of minutes once every week it should keep everything lubricated and running. I parked my car for six months. Not driving it but I did run it like three times a month every ten days for 5 mins. It helped a lot.

I actually ended up doing an oil change last night since it's been standing a lot. I wouldn't be surprised about them needing to be driven.

Yup your absolutely in the right for changing the oil my father does it on his 2001 BMW seven series When he barely drives it over 5k a year. Whenever he would park at the airport on his trips and The car sat for over a month or longer. He would change the oil. His reasoning that sediments get collected at the bottom over time and will cause problems. Do update if it did help. I have to find out where I am leaking I replaced the gaskets but I suspect a rear camshaft seal leak.

Yeah I don't think it's a real problem. I found a tsb that addresses the noise but the noise itself is not cause for alarm. The car sat for 24hrs and when I started it today, it made no such sound.

Ya I find if my car sits longer then 2 days and at first start up it will make the rattle noise but after a nice drive and the car is warm the sound does not appear.
