    Facelift MY16 exhaust mod

I've been thinking about some way to get more noise from my S6 exhaust, without replacing the whole exhaust and effecting the noise and smoothness while in 4 cylinder mode.

I've thought about doing the front resonator delete and the center muffler delete, but from reading about others that have done this, the result doesn't seem to be very much extra sound and in the MY16 you have to fit a X or H pipe, if you remove the center muffler. This is due to the new position of the left hand valve, which is now in front of the rear muffler.

The position of the left hand valve, then lead me to another idea. What if the rear muffler on the left hand side is replaced with a "Y" pipe (straight pipe to a twin tip), after the valve.

    Like this:

This should mean the same sound level when the car is in 4 cylinder mode and comfort mode, but a lot more noise in dynamic mode. The center muffler would still split the load to the two rear outlets. The only issue I can think of is matching the exhaust tips.

I don't know if I'm brave enough to try it, so I thought I would share the idea and see what others think about it...

I wonder if anyone has looked into the idea of installing some electronically controlled dump valves...maybe before the center resonator. This is a good way to get real power and real sound when you want it, and stock quiet when you don't.

Sounds like it would work to me. Give it a try. If you don't like it, put the stock muffler back on.

Yes, having a third level would be good.

That's what I was thinking, as well.
