    Question 16' S7 or 16' S6 decisions decisions..

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    Hi folks,

after few years in the RS club the time to separate with my beloved RS5 is approaching..Its just been rarely driven since our child was born and now we are spending more time with my wife's Merc whenever we are with our baby .

I am on the wall between S7 or S6 now(RS7 too steep for now ) Again in Sepang with alu optic ..for interior I like the Arras red..also thinking about going the Audi exclusive road for paint with the Speed yellow over black optic...

I like both cars inside and out, but I like a little bit more the S7's front end than the S6's..more aggressive for me and new headlights design is similar to the RS5s so I wont miss the RS that much...but its also kinda longer than the S6....which kinda bother me a bit.. not too worried for the interior since its pretty similar in both minus the missing 3rd seat on the back of the S7.

So I was wondering if you could help me with some opinions and images of your S6 and 7's to help me make my decision.. Will appreciate any inputs

It seems you like the look of the 7 more. The 3rd seat in the back literally doesn't exist anyway since even a small frame girl can't sit without complaining so I consider both to have 4 real seats with one make the extra space looking like a saddle when another having a tray.

I would go with S7 if I were you.

I considered the A6 and A7, and chose to go with the hatch. You'd be surprised how much stuff you'll need to haul for your kid. In addition to strollers, car seats and the like, I've loaded a wheelbarrow with the hatch closed and a snow blower with the hatch partially open on local Home Depot runs. I'm on an A6 loaner today and while nearly identical, it lacks the utility and unique profile of the A7 that sets it apart from the herd.

It seems to me anyway (Since I am shopping for an S6) that you can definitely get a better deal on an S6. Not sure if that is really important to you but its probably a factor.

Yeah you are roght..I think that S7 is more practical too..Also the other thing is that S7 has more identity than the S6..more personality, but thats just me..

I would go with the S6. It's already a bit too long and wide in my opinion. The extra length and width of the S7 push it well beyond the maximum size that I would want to deal with. Also, the S7 is lower than the S6 (typical of coupes) which makes it less comfortable. The S7 does look better in my opinion, but other aspects are more important...

I guess you are not in bad predicament :) I would go for the S7 since it has a more unique look.

Can't argue with the general suggestion but my understanding is most dealerships aren't spending the money on CPOing RS7s because the buyers just don't really care and it's an extra $$ on an already expensive car. Not sure I've seen any but really haven't looked either.

It's gonna come down to cosmetics more than anything. I'm I'm on the fence with the 7's looks but my wife thinks is real ugly. The rear def has some issues on its design. The front to me don't look as aggressive as the S6 either. I think it's the light design and the wider look of the s7 make the front end look squashed and thin and not very aggressive.

Side by side my self I find it crazy how people like the look of the S7 but it's like women. We all like different stuff. But what you think looks best.

Well we all know the S6 is faster and handles better... so I'd go with that.

    *ducks and covers*

But yeah, this video may help you decide... review of both cars side by side.:

With a kid and junk to haul around you will definitely appreciate the S7's hatch.

S7's hatch is a bonus when it comes to carrying baby stuff, but the lower roofline and restricted back seat headroom could prove very inconvenient when lifting the actual baby in and out...

This, and also you need to buy the car seat that's not too bulky and tall.

I know as an adult, I found the back seat of the S7 less comfortable than the S6, just because of the rear corner headroom... felt like I had to hunch a bit, even though I didn't actually touch the roof.

My wife has GLE450 coupe and it has similar lower roof line. For taller passengers is low though.. I am 6" and have to watch out to not hit my head when entering on back every time. Also when I sit back my head is really close to the roof. Baby car seat fits well though

Also by the time I get the car we will going to need a chair and not baby car seat anymore :)

I don't think you can go wrong with either of these cars, the S6 WILL be cheaper to purchase/lease, if you are looking for practicality I'm not sure one is truly more practical than the other :D.

Based on your interest in having an identity, then you need to get Audi Exclusive paint. For $4000 you get factory quality paint and while they advertise it might add 6 weeks to your order, the factory is pretty well equipped to handle special order paint, you'd be more likely to hit a delay from lack of parts than AE paint (Assuming you don't color match something and just pick from their collection). My S6 took 91 days from order to delivery with custom paint, I ordered in October and drove home last month.

I'd be interested to see US import numbers of the S7. I get the feeling there are a lot of S7s out there, and Sepang is such a good looking color, but it is common in the S6/S7.

This is really a decision based on looks. Both cars will drive essentially the same. See if you can look at them side by side. Looks is the reason I went with my 6. The 7 looks big and a bit "hunched over" for type of body design it is (to my eyes, obviously) In that sense, I think the 5 series sportback looks great.

I also couldn't see spending that much more for a car with no performance advantage or any extra features whatsoever. Again, not an issue of cost, but one of value.

You're kidding right? Must be the area you live in. I see the S6 and A6 all day long and an occasional A7. S7 maybe once every two weeks. The S7 is definitely unique looking and that may not appeal to everyone but when non-car people see my car they almost always have a nice comment on the style/look of the vehicle. With my RS4 only a few folks could identify it, most thought it was an A4 with a unique paint job. At least with the S7 they at least ask what it is.

But if you need that larger back seat, the S6 is your choice. Good luck - good problem to have, right?

    Thanks all for your inputs

Here is CO and specifically in Denver metro I've seen S6/7's very rarely ..the most common Audi appears to be all variants of the Q5's

Also any ideas on MY17 S6/7's release date/month? Usually they comes in may/june and if thats the case I would rather wait to get 2017 and also there may be a different options.pkgs, colors and wheels selections...

I Live in Baton Rouge and mainly see A4, A6 and A7's. I've seen one S4 and two Rs7's no S6's. I'm looking for a used s6 and the market in Baton Rouge and New Orleans there has only been one 2013 with 62,000 come up for sale and they wanted $51,500.

I see more R8, Ferrari, Lambo, Mclaren than S7 here for some reason.

the 7 body style and I had a rs 6
I traded or sold my rs/6 and suv as the 7 is the perfect replacement for both. The amount of room in the hatch is perfect as I used it as my moving van. The 7 and the 5 series Audi's in my estimation are the two most beautiful body styles period. I routinely have people ask me about the car. Only people in the know understood the rs/6. After having an rs/6 there is very little difference in the 3,4,6 and 8 Audi's hard to tell them apart. This car with the tunes is close to the perfect car, it could use the rs7 tuned 650 hp then it would be perfect. I buy my audi's used so this vehicle cpo was 20k off the sticker with 15k miles.

Nope, it's kinda crazy... and awesome.

The A7's are everywhere, S7's fairly common, but the S6 is like a frickin' Unicorn in SoCal! Haha

Only other time I've seen one not on the highway, was at the dealership when I was getting service and another one pulled in behind me! I was looking for a used S6 before I bought mine, and they were literally NOWHERE to be found across the country. One pops up on CarMax maybe every few months, then gone right away.

The 2014 sales numbers from Audi indicated (502) total S6's were sold in the US, while (2,456) of the S7/RS7 were sold. So it's almost 5/1 which makes a lot of sense given what we see in SoCal on the roads.

BlueSVT - That has got to be a CA thing. Where did you find that data? All I have found so far are the sales figures for A6 and A7 2014, which states that the S models are buried in there. 23,941 A6 and 8,133 A7s.

Antoff83 - the blue or the yellow would look great. You only live once - I'd go for the yellow!!

Their sales reports used to break down the "S" models... seems that stopped in 2015.

That post has a link to the 2014 sales report which DOES have the % breakdown for sales models. What's crazy is that the S6 is the most rare Audi model... 50% more R8's are made!
