    AWE Track Exhaust- Sound Actuator

    I just put on the AWE Track exhaust on my 2014 S4. I have seen a lot of threads and directions saying to turn off the sound actuator.
    Most of the diagrams have 2013 models or older and was wondering if anyone knew which fuse I needed to pull to turn it off. Audi has been a royal pain to
    get them to give me any type of user manual (bought the car used and didn't have one).

    On a side note the reason I would like to do this is to reduce some of the cabin noise. I love the deep sound but I need to dim it or my Fiance will make me trade the car in lol.
    I have seen a few threads also on sound deadening material but they are also on older models. Anyone tried to reduce in cabin exhaust noise on their 14 S4s?

    You can adjust it in the mmi. You can lower it but not turn it off. I forget the fuse right now but pulling it will throw some soft codes but nothing harmful. You can turn it completely off with vcds, which I did.

    Ok thanks, I was not too worried about throwing codes at the moment.
    did it make a reasonable difference for you?

    I'm hoping someone has found a good solution to get the cabin noise reduced. If i don't find a way to get my fiance in the car I may have to trade back!!! and that would break my heart lol

    You definitely notice turning it off but you have the louder of the two exhausts from AWE. Shoulda went touring model.

    Trade the fiancé, keep the exhaust. Problem solved :P

    In all seriousness - if you are the first buyer/owner of this AWE system you should be able to purchase the mufflers from the touring separately from them. That plus lowering the sound actuator should help a lot

    Driver side fuse box, left most column, 5th slot down, it's a yellow 5amp fuse. It does make a noticeable difference, just pull it.
    AWE Touring with resonated downpipes and my fuse is sitting in my ash tray.

    Have any of you guys heard the touring and the Track (with stock downpipes)? Is there a large difference? Do you think anyone would be willing to trade their touring exhaust?

    I have not heard the track but with two mufflers added there is probably a pretty noticeable difference. Sound clips all over the place. AWE has some on their site I believe.

    Man I thought I did enough homework. I have to say (even though I do love it) I was not prepared for the difference in sound. None of the videos can even come close to capturing the sound these bad boys make in person.

    I have done quite a bit of reading for this, and there is not a way to make the actual Sound Actuator louder. In your MMI settings I believe there is an Exhaust level that you can select that will help change the volume. But the levels you have in there are what you are limited to

    I just flipped thru 77 online pages of the manual and there is no mention on how to change the sound of the actuator anywhere in the MMI. and it's too cold to go outside now to check it out lol

    Good point. If these things weren't selling out as fast as they can produce them, I'd think about picking one up for the laughs. I'm getting way too much amusement from the thought of setting it up in my wife's car.

    You might have better luck trying to find someone that bought a track exhaust originally and see if they can order the mufflers for you. That seems easier then trading. Id do it for ya but I can't.

    Ive muted mine with the vagcom...i suppose you could make it louder here too.

    "To mute the Soundaktor (as an alternative to pulling the fuse):

    A9 Structure Borne Sound (in my car, this was in the second Installed tab, not the first one that's shown by default)
    Adaptation 10
    At Channel drop down choose "Volume of structure borne noise actuator" (only choice)
    Enter a value in the proper box (0% = mute )"

    Thanks guys, I actually ended up pulling the fuse last night and the over all sound quality is much better. The Actuator was creating what I can best describe as an echo in the cabin that really made everything worse. Without it the exhaust sound is great!

    Now I'm thinking I may throw some dampeners in the trunk lining to try and dim it in cabin. That seems to be the quickest fix bc no one is biting on a trade for touring. Hopefully that will please the fiance and will be a win win!

    did you get a code when you pulled fuse 5?

    Thanks for the posting this. Was having a heck of a time trying to find instructions to do this through vagcom, which I think is a better option VS pulling a fuse.

    Nope believe it or not I did not get any type of code pulling this fuse, however before I knew which one I actually needed to pull I did the wrong one and it did send a code.
    I put it back in though, hard reset the car and everything is not fine. Fuse #5 is out and the cabin is much better

    is it a noticeable difference in drone with the actuator pulled? I tried pulling the fuse it says in the booklet but it is giving me a parking brake error..

    Yes it is helpful to remove the fuse. you must've pulled the wrong fuse. It is in the fuse box located on the side of the drivers side dash with the door open. Left most fuse bank, 5th fuse down from the top. But don't just count the fuses and pull the 5th. there may be empty fuse banks in between other fuses (like on my car) because your car doesn't have certain features.
