    Angry Interesting race...

Pulled up next to a brand new GMC pickup in the right lane and needed to get into the left lane. When the light turned green I hit the gas a little harder than normal so I could make my way to the left lane. Well after about 50yrds or so I hear the pickup floor it. It takes me maybe 3 seconds to respond and floor, and I get in front of him, but I never pull far ahead... He STAYED with me the entire time, and by stayed I mean maybe half a car length to a car length behind me... I ended up going 100+ when he gave up.

WTH happened?!? Is our stock top end power not that great from a roll? Does my delayed WOT make that big of a difference? I'm incredibly disappointed.

See I thought this too, but lets say it was the 3.6L V6, which has a curb weight of 4280, and ours is 4409.

If it was a GMC Sierra with the 6.2L V8 - well...I've posted C&D's numbers for it below:

Given any sufficient head start this race is a losing proposition. If you topped out at 100+ he might have hit his limiter : )

VERY interesting... It very well could be this truck. Never saw his ass so can't be positive . I'm actually less mad now and more impressed with what pickups can do these days. Especially a GMC.

i had a F150 3.5 V6 TT before this, it weighed only 400 lbs more and had tons of torque with the turbos. plus two wheel drive, i wouldn't be surprised if it was as quick as the SQ5 0-60. both tuned, i wouldn't be surprised if the v6tt won, it will have like 100 more wheel torque post tune

I had an Ecoboost F-150 with a tune and it was pretty fast. It was the supercrew FX4 so it wasn't light.

I have a 2014 GMC Sierra crew cab 4x4 with the 6.2l engine, mine is tuned with some light mods. From the factory the 6.2l engines are rated at 420hp and 460tq, most dyno runs have shown they may be a little under-rated. For a truck that weighs 5500lbs it is no joke, it will smooth get up after it and has surprised several vehicles. Depending on the year the stock governor is either 112mph or 98mph on the new GM trucks.

I will say this, while Fords EB TTV6 trucks are quick, tuned versus tuned the SQ5 will walk away from those trucks. Horsepower with both being tuned is pretty close, but the SQ5 is going to have about 500lbs or more of a weight advantage and is a lot more aerodynamic than the trucks as well.

Stock an SQ5 performs nicely but many stock cars and trucks can run a 13.x-14.x 1/4 mile and 5-6 sec 0-60 so any impromptu run will result in a disappointment unless you planned on the run before it starts. Tuned you can drop a second or so but even a second change means you have 1 second to respond or you're behind. That's why reaction time at the start at the track makes a big difference. I won't be disappointed just tune it and you'll smile again.

We’re not sure who thought up the whole muscle-truck idea, but it’s not a terribly sensible one. By most measures, pickups are rather ill-suited for speedy travel, with innately lousy aerodynamics, high centers of gravity, nose-heavy weight distributions, and working-class suspensions. Adding buckets of power doesn’t turn them into sports cars, just marvelously brawny statements of one’s masculinity (or perhaps compensation for lack thereof).

Time for a tune. You won't have to worry about that again if you do.

Haha occasionally I like driving like I don't have an anvil tied to my foot, but no doubt stage 1, or piggy back if gets better software, is in my near future. Tired of having nightmares about pickup trucks . Give me a couple months. Probably should have done tune before exhaust but it was too hard to pass up.

Nah. . .I did everything else first, so the tune (straight to stage 2) was the icing on the cake.
