    First post and wheel questions

Hey gang. Just spent two weeks going cross eyed looking at wheels for my wife's new to us '13 Q5. Pretty sure we are going with Niche Vicenza's M153's. Trying to decide now on tire size. Rims will likely be 20x9et25 with 275/40r20's.....but was also considering the 20x10et25 with 285/40r20's.

My questions are, will the 285's fit without spacers and if so, how close to flush will I be with the fenders? I don't want to end up outside of them. Thanks for your time and cheers,

    Dave

Welcome! I've been looking at the same fitment of 20x10 ET25, and Mops pointed me to post #102 in this thread. No spacers required.

It seems like there's a very limited selection of tires at 285/40/20 (at least on TR) though, and you might get also a tiny bit of poke, so I'll be going with 275/40/20.

Also, a proper introduction needs to include photos.

TopTrim, got any pics of what the offset looks like relative to the fender?

I should mention that I probably won't be lowering. I won't go as far as saying never lol....once the sickness starts its hard to kick:) I really want the stance but I dont want to end up "mexi flush" as someone put it lol. Maybe with that 25 offset I should just go with 255's? I also don't want to scare off my wife from future mods by going too aggressive with the tires right off the bat hahahaha. All opinions welcome and thanks so far, cheers.

My current setup is 20x9 et25 with 255 tires. I regret not going with something more aggressive though, so I'm taking a mulligan now. I think you can pretty safely go a bit wider and get a more aggressive look.

As in the 275's on the 9" rim? When I use the "will they fit" site it looks like a pretty big jump outwards on a 10" rim. I won't mind the rim protection from a slight bulge. Do you have a pic of ur 255's in relation to the fender?

I meant going with a wider rim and/or a more aggressive offset. I'm going with a new wheel entirely at 20x10et25 and 275/40/20.

Here's the best pictures I have available at the moment.

I'm a fan of running beefy tires... We're you on 287/palisades yesterday?

Haha thanks. I actually have a pending sale for them lined up. I like them, but I just think a wider setup looks a bit better with the lowered height. I'm not as sure about that with stock height though.

Nope, it wasn't me. My car is mostly weekend-only at this point. I know there's at least one other sepang Q in the area though. If you ever see me, feel free to flag me down. I'm really interested in checking out your new suspension setup, since I have to deal with the same NYC roads lol.

I definitely agree on the beefier tire preference. I could go wider on my new setup, but I want to avoid it poking out from the front fender.
