I placed order for an armytrix system, just a waiting game now. I love the sound and that it is valved, just want to hear what everyone else's thinks or any other exhaust options : )

It all depends on what you are looking for.
I purchased a complete exhaust second hand- it may have been an early version, which should only impact fitment around the sport diff (if you have it) and how the valve system is connected (hard wired vs. OBD II connection).

As far as the sound goes- I hated it as did a few friends. It was way too raspy for any us. The car sounded like a hot-rodded Honda with an open exhaust at the race track. It was awful. I contemplated taking it off but decided to modify it and "tame it down". See my thread HERE

    Armytrix OE H-Pipe:

    My Modified H-Pipe:

Here is a Youtube of my exhaust before and after mods....please excuse the placement of the GoPro during the "before" recordings!

I will say that fit and finish of their exhaust is excellent. I liked how everything fit and the polished tips are awesome. Of course alignment of any multi-piece exhaust will take some time to ensure a perfect fitment.

After this work was done it sounds amazing. A very distinct rumble at low rpm's and a sweet tone at WOT- especially over 3700 rpms.

This being said- it you want a very raucous exhaust out of the box- this might be for you.

Way too expensive for something that makes your car sound like its 20 years old with a rusted out exhaust system...I went with the Milltek Valvesonic Exhaust as well, and I can't be happier!!

First, I did purchase mine used- I could never justify spending >$3000 on an exhaust. I was quite pleased with the Borla I had on prior (which was also purchased slightly used).

Second, I don't care what the HP drop is when valves are closed. Who would run them closed and expect power too? Running them closed is for more of a "touring" mode; perfect for cruising and having an uninterrupted conversation. I do usually run with my valves open though because it sounds so F'n great....

I also believe power gains are substantial over the previously installed Borla system for several reasons: evident torque-steer, greater confusion by the traction control post-Armytrix, and of course my perception of how quick the car feels. Of course, only track numbers will confirm my thoughts, but I have to wait for Spring to get here......

Well some videos certainly make it sound bad *** & contrary to the majority of opinion on AZ I do think it sounds pretty Formula1'ish as opposed to honda'ish but i've never heard one in person regardless I personally don't think i could live w/ it. I want an affordable valved exhaust as well but alas i'll probably just settle for the valvesonic or just go w/ the basic awe exhaust which everyone in the world seems to have.

Unfortunately, I don't have any sound clips. I don't have any mics that can really pick up the sound of the exhaust without making it sound weird. Maybe someone else does.

Get the touring with resonated downpipes. The touring drones less than the track and the resonated downpipes will quiet down a lot. Plus all aftermarket exhausts drone

This statement is simply not true; not all exhaust systems drone. Have you personally tested ALL exhaust systems?

The Borla exhaust is constructed of full stainless steel, has a nice mid tone but is louder than stock, and has a set of nice exhaust tips with rolled lips. I experienced ZERO drone with it during the 18 months it was on my car. There are plenty of sounds clips comparing the various exhaust systems out there- it all depends on what you want.

Would I be upset if I paid full price for my Armytrix and it sounded like it did- absolutely! Some people like that raspy F1 sound though- not me. That's why I spent about $150 in parts and created my own H-pipe. It now sounds incredible and it too has ZERO drone.

BTW...here is a clip of the Borla and Roc-Euro on my car:

No, but almost all exhaust systems I've ever seen installed there was at least a few people that complained about drone. It's a very opinionated matter. Drone bothers some people more than others.

Did the Borla drone before the custom H-pipe? Sounds sweet btw!

In the clip above, it is a stock 2012 S4 with only the Roc-Euro intake and a stock Borla system. I did not modify the Borla during my 18 months of ownership. Thank you for the compliment- for someone who wants a civilized yet noticeable difference from a stock S4, the above combo is one of the best out there...IMHO.

Ah misunderstood you then. Yea Borla is a great system - only reason I didn't get it over AWE is because it's a tad more quiet than the AWE touring. Actually surprised more people don't have Borla considering they make quality products

I was in the same boat as you. I decided to go with the FI exhaust system. I Have not yet heard it in person but the system install went flawlessly according to the shop and it sounds awesome. They have videos online for the S4 exhaust, it is an awesome sound. Less raspy than Armytrix but more F1 track sounding, also valvetronic. System is about the same price but they also come with dp's which are optional. The Miltek exhaust is in my opinion a weak option for a valvetronic system. If you want valves, then it better rock your world when they are open; Miltek doesn't do it for me.

+1 on the Borla exhaust. Loved mine! Just wished it was louder at times.

If you want a valved exhaust you can't go wrong with the Milltek Valvesonic:

like? I like AWE but everyone says it drones like crazy

We have had such good luck that we started recommending the resonated touring to customers that tend to be a bit more picky and have families, where in cabin noise is really a concern. But drone is subjective and the DSG 3.0L cars suffer from drone more than most platforms. We have also had good luck with the valvesonic systems from Milltek on customers that we have sent them to. The Borla is also a good option.

You can check out the touring systems here at 8% off and free shipping.

For those with a Track edition and want to make the conversion, it is well priced for current owners to make the switch over. If you are interested in that, please shoot me a PM or e-mail. I have also told local customers that if they want to hear and take a ride we do have a car with the resonated touring system on it we are willing to take for a spin. But an appointment must be made for this to happen.

I cannot speak as to the Armytrix system. All I can say is that I have never once regretted getting the Borla system and think it is one of the best exhaust bargains out there for this platform. Zero drone, and yet I never wish it was louder.

looking for more input on the V8 army trix....read a couple threads about the build quality but Im really hoping to hear from some long term users if its holding up good. Army Trix for the V8 is by far the best sounding exhaust for the car. Id hate to hear that it doesnt stand the test of time.

I've had it for 18 months now and still just as good as day 1. Everyone who hears it in-person is blown away and loves the sound. They think I've done a LS-swap and that the car is far from stock. They can't believe that it isn't a V8 and simply a V6.

Not sure why people keep saying it sounds "raspy." My S4 is DSG and there is no drone when I drive in Dynamic or Individual. Just some when in Comfort but I almost never drive in Comfort.

It is throaty and LOUD. The sound and loudness of it when the valves are open certainly is not for everyone. Then again, beauty of it being valved. When I don't want to draw attention, annoy the neighbors or have passengars in the car, i just turn it off or put it on "auto." Sound is subjective. I personally really like how it sounds and seemingly so does everyone who hears it in-person.

I'll see if I can dig up some vids.

I'm sorry but LS swap what a fucking joke these sound nothing like an LS and never will no matter what anybody does to the exhaust. Anybody that thinks that car sounds like a V8 has severe retardation or knows fuck all about engines period.

Thanks, salty I'm pretty sure no one one cares what you think about them. I highly doubt they actually think that it is an LS-swap and are just saying that to be nice and emphasize the fact it sounds throaty and more like a V8 and the not the V6 that it actually is.

i'm not going to be as harsh as the gentleman above but no way this exhaust sounds like an LS Motor .. it doesn't even sound like a v8 pickup truck. if it really sounds that different in person you guys should stop making videos .. it sounds like a honda civic with a fart can

LOL. Oh, I agree that it doesn't sound like a LS. I don't make vids for my own satisfaction. People ask for them, so I do to oblige. There are more modded civics here in my area than I care to count and I can assure you, it does not sound like a civic in-person.

Sound is subjective and everyone has their preferences. But let's be fair...there is no comparison and it doesn't even sound remotely like a honda with a fart can! Hahahaha!

Honestly, my favorites are the Akrapovic and Capristo exhausts! But I just couldn't justify spending over $5k for just an exhaust. AWE set-ups sound great but because it seems that 90% of our platform runs AWE exhausts, wanted to get something different.
