    Adios Avant...

Very soon I'll be trading in my Avant for something larger. I've had fun wrenching and driving her for the past couple years and despite what others have said about this model, it has been a great car. I've loved railing through the Texas hill country will hauling several bikes on the roof and still having a car with a lot of utility.

I'm parting out some of the goodies that I've added:

Not really... the cargo area behind the rear seat is shorter in length, but it's also wider and taller. Fold the seat down and the Q5 has quite a bit more space. The passenger compartment of the Q5 is also noticeably wider. All things considered, the Q5 is a actually little roomier.

Had a 2016 Q5 as a loaner for a few days while my A6 was in for warranty repair - there is no way I would be happy with one if those as my daily driver. Didn't find it particularly comfortable, and the higher visibility is about the only positive thing I can say about it. Could not wait to return it.

No it's not their ugly as fuck for one and they are just useless. I have two massive dogs that fit in the back of my Avant just fine, most people think SUV's are the answer an Avant with a cargo box is always better.

I don't agree at all. I do think however that the Avant is better for dogs. I personally feel that an Avant with a cargo box is ugly as fuck.

Oh, I agree that the 2.0T motor didn't advance the cause, I just found it to be like I was driving a dinner roll.

To each their own I guess... while my two dogs fit in the back of my Avant "fine", we almost always take the Q5 when taking the dogs somewhere, because they seem to fit better in that. The Avant has the advantage of the standard pull-up screen, but our dogs never try to come to the front anyway. While I much prefer the retractable cargo cover in the Avant over the pop-up one in the Q5 MOST of the time, for taking the dogs it's best to take either one out, and that's easier/faster in the Q5.

For "my" car that I drive daily, I much prefer the Avant, but I can't deny the Q5 has more utility, and I think it drives fairly well for an SUV.
