    Need help/input on configuring S6

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    Hey guys,

So I normally wouldn't ever order a car but my current lease is up in four months so I said what the heck! My original build (Wish List) probably needs to be trimmed a little bit, so I am looking for some input from current S6 drivers to help me decide.

Perfect car is Prestige Glacier white with Arras red interior, driver assistance, sport and black optics package with B&O and Night vision. It looks like this build Will be around $1,150 per month on a 36 month lease with $10k down (Im in CA) with a 6% discount for being Audiclub member. So that is a little more then I wanted to spend so I am looking for options to drop.

Then it got me thinking, well hey do I even need the prestige? I could get the premium plus and add Bose and LED lights. I would kind of miss the automatic trunk but the heads up display and side and rear curtains wouldn't really bother me if I didn't have them.

So I guess what I am looking for from you guys is your input on the following items.

    1. If I got the premium plus (not sure about the non led interior lighting) Didn't get to see that in person
    2. B&O, It does sound better but 6k better?, no way!! But I really enjoy listening to music at high volumes!1 Side note, We just got my wife a brand new XC90 and the premium sound is Bowers and Wilkens and it was only $3,200 and worth every penny to me but I don't think the B&O is as good and twice the $$$
    3. Night vision, probably first option to drop but it just looks so dang cool!! I would also be driving up to Mammoth mountain quite a bit during winter and it could be useful.
    4. And lastly If I did get premium plus I would add bose and Led headlights so is not having interior lighting, heads up display, rear and side curtains, and automatic trunk just make it a better choice to go prestige?

I know a lot of this is subjective but some true experience from you guys could probably help make my choice easier.

    Sorry for the long post.
    Thanks,
    Jesse

    Hi there,

I went through this for a while when I ordered my car and I would love to give you a little help.
In regards to prestige, to me it wasn't worth the price considering you're able to build a premium plus with all of the important prestige options such as LED, Bose, etc. I also am not a big fan of the look of the dash when the car is installed with heads up display. If you haven't seen it, make sure you check it out. I think it completely ruins the flow of the dash. This is however my personal opinion so you make feel differently.
As for B&O, you're going to hear many different thoughts on that but I will tell you that the Bose system is surprising very good. In fact, I have heard both systems in an S6 and I wouldn't even consider the 6k for b&o. Trust me, you'll be very surprised with the Bose.
Night vision is cool I guess. Haven't seen it in person but I would imagine it's pretty neat for sure.
The only thing I really wish the car had that was a prestige option is the automatic trunk. However, this is quite a minor problem considering the price difference, it's really not that big of an issue either.

Love the idea of your color combo. That will make a great looking car.

Good luck, if you have anymore questions please feel free to ask.

Thanks for your input! What about your interior lights? Are they just yellow?

I am perfectly content with my build (in my signature ) Not black optics but that's personal preference. I like the silver accents against the glacier white. I didn't bother with night vision or the B&O. Bose is adequate for me. Heads up display is a little chunky but it doesn't bother me. Nice with the nav directions in the heads up. By the time you add stuff to the premium plus what is the difference per month compared to just getting prestige? My build Stickered around 84k.

    '16 Glacier White S6 has arrived. http://www.audizine.com/forum/showthread.php?t=664347

Not sure if the premium plus gets the nicer door panel inserts like the prestige.

I basically have your build without the B&O and Night vision. The dealer messed up my order and had a premium plus come in initially. They let me borrow it for a few days to see if it was worth it to me to save a few bucks. The premium plus felt like it lacked things a 70-80k vehicle should have. I think the additional prestige options (minor things) make it that much better and add to the awesomeness of this vehicle. The ACNA discount really allows you to select the options you want and still manage to get a good deal. To each their own.

Yeah I'm thinking I will go prestige minus B&O and night vision. So we will have the same car!!!! Man my current lease can't come due soon enough!

Let me see if I have this right -

    2016 S6 Prestige configured ~$83k

    36*$1150=$41,400
    + $10k down
    Total $51,400 for a lease

That's 2/3rd's the value of the car MSRP using money that you have zero potential in recovering.

    -or-

    $83,000-6% ACNA ($4,980)= $78020
    -$10,000
    = $68,020 (plus whatever other rebates/incentives)

Assuming a sales tax of 8.25% (Texas) and an interest rate of 3.22% for 60 months means payments of ~$1330/mo

    A difference of $180/mo

For that $180/mo you get unlimited mileage and a vehicle that you do not have any lease hindrances. Plus you aren't losing 2/3rd's the cost of the car, rather making some (albeit) small investment. So why are we talking about a lease here??

No, that $1,150 is based on a $92,000 configuration. The bottom line with me is that I simply do not keep cars! I tell myself "ok buddy your gonna have this one for a while" nope doesn't happen! I like to lease because it is a cheaper payment, and in this example the residual will be pretty good so if I want to keep it I will just buy it after the lease is up, or halfway through or anytime really, but we know that won't happen. At the end of the day a car is a depreciating asset, so if i know i don't keep cars (17 in 18 years) lease makes sense for me. I also would get Audi care for free so really have nothing to worry about while I own it. Not to mention my last lease I traded in and owed $32k and the dealership gave me $35k!

I have a prestige, glacier white. Same build as mc52 minus the cold weather package. I also like the chrome bits on the car.
Between the premium plus and prestige I would totally miss the power trunk. Being able to open the trunk with my foot has come in handy more times than I can count. B&O sounds good and better than the Bose but I don't know if it's $5k better. Night vision could live without, thought it was more of a cool feature that I probably wouldn't use too often. Both these options require prestige BTW.

Have you thought about not doing the Arras Red? That would be a $2300 option. I've always worried about having the clean the leather after wearing dark jeans.

I have thought about getting the black interior but the Arras red and the Carbon twill is just so dang sexy! To clarify a few points real quick. The B&O is actually more like $6,000 right? Because you pay for the Bose in the Prestige package but obviously don't get it. Also The Arras red wouldn't quite be $2,300 because if I went with black i would still have to pay $500-$900 for an interior inlay right?

Arras red with the red twill in the CF is just awesome... spend the money, you'll love it. It's only money :P

Yes, the Arras Red does looks sexy especially the red in the CF.

I guess you can say it's $5750 for the B&O since you have the cost of the Bose system lumped into the prestige package. I've always just looked at it as having to spend another $4,900.

The Arras Red is listed as a $2,300 option, but you're right, you would still pay $500 for the Carbon Atlas or $900 for the Layered Aluminum, unless you still with the stock wood inlay which is included.
