2016 Audi A3 - S-Tronic Clunking Sounds In Very Cold Weather

I hate posting these types of queries but just wanted to ask the forum members if their A3 when parked over night in frigid -20 degree weather if their vehicle makes a clunking sound when automatically gearing down i.e. 4th, to 3rd to 2nd to clunk 1st gear? Its almost akin to tapping the breaks you hear the click on of the pads or caliper moving - lack of a better term.

Just today the missus and I drove off to hit the malls after letting her (the car) warm up for a couple of minutes. The temp this morning was a balmy -20 degrees. Upon driving (in D mode) when approaching a stop sign for example during the downshift, it would make a clunking sound when gearing down to first. After a few minutes of driving the sound no longer existed. I hope this is normal - please say yes - lol.

    Thanks

If it's the noise I think you're talking about i've experienced it once before actually, but only in manual mode and not in D. I have a heated garage so I never have any issues with temp, but I had to park outside on Thursday night with that ridiculous -30C cold weather we're having. I have an S3, but either way when I was downshifting in manual mode in the first few kms with the car still cold I could hear a noise that I attributed to the really cold temps. It disappeared once my car was warmed up and hasn't happened since so i'm assuming it was weather related.

Yeah i started hearing this noise on my 2016 a3 last night too. When slowing down the car made a clunky noise from 2-1. After the car warmed up the noise went away.
