    2000 A6 01E ratios

I'm on the verge of buying a parts car and my curiosity has gotten the best of me. What code 01Es came with the 2000 A6 and what ratios would would come in these 01Es?

I'm buying this to convert my S6 to a manual, so I really would like it geared as tall as I can as a factory trans (TDI gearing isn't in the cards)

Don't know right off. But if it's an A6 then it has what you need, pretty sure the US 'officially' only got the one version of the 01E 6 speed trans (well two if you count the Allroad?, and now that I think of it the B6 A4 is technically an 01E?..but is different enough that it doesn't swap easily), which is the same one in the B5 S4. There may be a few oddballs rolling around, but they would either have been imported or custom from what I know. What you want to avoid is an Allroad parts car, gearing isn't right. You shouldn't have to touch the rear differential, it should match the A6 trans just fine.
Go get it and get to work.

There was a 6-speed swap thread in the chatterbox with ratios all listed, but seems like alot of stuff has been purged..wasn't able to find it.

At the same time, Audiworld published data also has known errors. Of particular relevance for you is the rear diff in your car should be code EUU, which has a 4.11 final drive ratio. This will match the EDU transmission in a 2000 A62.7t 6sp. Which means you don't need to change the rear diff as you do when converting an A6 4.2 or 2.7t or allroad.

(The Audiworld spec on the '02 S6 says the final drive is 2.727 which, I believe, is the FD on the front of the A6 4.2).

BTW, If you haven't already seen this write-up, it's worth studying.
It's a bit weak on the electrical and coding details, but that also varies from car to car. The author (RIP, Redneck Truck) did his conversion on jackstands in his garage. If you have the luxury of a lift, you may want to reorder certain work inside the car (it's very challenging to work on the pedal cluster and wiring when the driver door won't open all the way)

The 2.72 is the front final drive on the S6/S8 and some A6 4.2's but that doesn't take into account the gear ratio at the power transfer section of the transmission.

Redneck Truck? The gent that swapped a TDI into a TT and did several other VAG related builds? I had no idea.

I have a lift elsewhere, but it'll be done on tall stands due to not being able to complete it quickly.
The A6 rear will be coming out as I want it for my '04 Allroad. I intend to find a taller geared trans for that too as it turns too many RPM's for my driving. I regularly set the cruise at 83-84 in South Dakota (limit is 80) and that's just too high for my liking.

The A6 rear diff ratios won't work with any Allroad trans.

The wording above is confusing, but I have a couple cars this '00 drivetrain might get put into. My intention is either to use the A6 diff and trans in the AR or just use the trans in an S6 (diff's have the same ratios, right?)
