I have an '08 A3 3.2 that has been having some weird issues and I've searched everywhere and cannot find any info of this matter. Also took it to several local Audi specialists and can't seem to get much help on this matter as well. This problem has happened once before and I eventually found someone that was able to get my car back on the road but ended up having to buy a new ECU because it was supposedly fried, but I have a feeling I was probably ripped off and was something very simple.

Ok so here is the problem. On both occasions was a very cold day outside. About 10 degrees. I started up car to allow it to warm up and turned up the heat. About 10-15 seconds later, the car just died. Tried starting it back up but all it does is just cranks but not turn over. I've checked just about every fuse in the car and everything is still fine. Only fuses checked were the ones in the engine bay and inside on the side of the dash. If there is another location, I would be clueless as to where else I could check.

PLEASE can someone help me with this? Having this happen twice in a matter of one month is just ridiculous and I can't see how the ECU can fry just because of this. Hopefully someone will be able to chime in and give me some pointers as I'm completely lost. Thanks!

You really need to scan it. If you can't do that, check fuel and spark to start eliminating causes.

Would just a regular OBDII scanner work?
