Its been a fun journey, but its time to move on (pic heavy )

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Cant even mention were to start, and where all the ups and down, road trips and everything in between.

Lets start April 2009, found my self searching for a new car, since my jetta was for sale, dint even imagine buying an audi. Till i started doing research on the new body styles and new technology audi was offering.
So the search started for an all white B8 A4 at the time preferably premium plus Quattro.

After searching for almost 1.5 months, i found a white s-line, quattro, 6 speed, prestige. It was a lil more money than what i wanted to spend, but the deal that i was offer i could not pass it up.

So May 28, 2009 i purchased an ibis white, prestige S-line MT. (On to the pics, enough talk )

Before being handed over to me

    First snow storm ( winter 2009 )

After winter was over (2010), sold the peelers and got some S5 y-spoke

As soon as i got the S5 wheels, bought me some kw's

2 months later, bought me another set of wheels

August 2010, someone rear ended me, luckily it was just the bumper and lower valance.

Spring of 2011, some lady made a left turn into me and damage the fender and damage the bumper and grill ( picture taken after it was fixed)

    Summer time 2011

2012 winter, put the wheels back on and took some pics ( don't worry, wheels were cleaned extensively after a few pics )

Spring/Summer 2012, sold the Gold wheels, and the S5 y-spokes, and my kws, wanting to go with airride. So i bought a set of 18"s ( forgot what audi they where from )

Spring 2013: was due for new brakes, so i got some adams rotors, with stop tech SS lines and pads, and an apr intake with some R8 coil packs.

Summer time 2013, had the dreaded oil consumption issue, it was so bad that: turbo, piston, piston rings, head gasket and tons of other components where replaced. ( under good will warranty, since i was at 60k ). Also while it was at the dealer i sold the 18's and got me a set of S5 wheels ( double spoke ).

After 2 months at the dealer, waiting to be fix. It was Breast cancer month, so i decided to dip the wheels, mirrors and emblem pink.

Winter 2014, enjoying quattro weather i bought a rs4 grill, plus dipped my wheels chameleon green/blue.

Spring/Summer 2014 made the last payment! Heres a video i made.
    http://youtu.be/X1hnu38swPY

Winter 2014/2015After extensive reading about airide, and gaining plenty of knowledge, i decided that it was not for me. I felt that airride was for the driver that had a second car and not to be driven daily, even though driving a bagged car is perfectly fine. So i sold the S5 wheels and bought a set of 20" rs5 rotors.

Here comes spring and summer of 2015, since i was not getting airride, i bought another set of kw's ( love these coils ).

Bought a set of AG M580's, bought it was order with the wrong offset, so i had to sell them.

Its been a fun journey, but its time to move on (pic heavy )

Here comes fall 2015, lowered 24" from ground to fender ( daily driven ). Also came breast cancer month again and i dipped the wheels panther pink.

October/November 2015 took it to the dealer for a problem, they stated i need it a new turbo, so i whent ahead and spent a few more dollars and upgraded to a apr k04 with a 034 motorsports hfc ( thanks to driveauto )

So after upgrading the turbo, the problem still persist, took it back to the dealer got AOA involved and had my money returned, for a wrongful diagnostic.

Winter 2015/2016, driving home timing chain snapped, broke the head, the valves and a few things. Had all that replace and back on the road again.

Even tho its had its ups and downs, its been an awesome car and its time for me to move on, shes currently for sale.

Currently how it sits, till it is sold. sold the rotors and bought a set of S5 wheels again.

Looking to moving on to an S4/S5, depending if i can find one that it will be tight for me.

THE CAR WAS SOLD THIS PAST SUNDAY! Here is a small vid, as the last farewell

Nice thread showing your journey and congratulations on paying off your car! Quick question, how much were the total repairs for when your timing chain broke? Did you get it fixed at the dealer? Also, at how many miles did the timing chain break? According to Audi, our timing chains don't need to be replaced at all. It should be good for at least 200,000 miles according to a service manager where I got my stage 2 oil consumption repairs done.

Dude, congrats on paying her off and sorry to hear about the car issues. But nothing is more important on how you celebrate breast cancer month. Deep respect for you to take time out and dip the mirrors and rims. This hits me in the feels as my sister in law was diagnosed and beat the shit out of cancer and has been clean for a few years now.

I solute thee and all the best with your new ride.

I am glad to hear that your sister kicked ass, me having a few family member fighting trough it has made me realize that it needs to become more aware into finding a cure. When i buy my next car, i will still keep the "be pink" theme going.

Wow very nice thread and progression. Seems like you went through some great times with you A4. Glad to see that you're still staying in the Audi family! I'm actually surprised that the stock RS5 wheels fit the A4 so well, and it looked like they perfectly fit. Any issues with rubbing? This may be an option for me with my a4....

I'll bet a ton of money that the chain wasn't the root cause of the failure, it was the tensioner. Read my thread: http://www.audizine.com/forum/showth...-Now-with-Pics

OP - do you have any other detailed pics of the tensioner and / or your front timing cover? I can't tell from just those few pics but if you have more detailed ones, I'll bet I can guestamate, and prolly be spot on, how it failed.

Thanks! It was always fun driving it. And i was lowered 24 inches all around, only time i rubbed is when i had people in the car, when i had a full tank of gas, and when making sharp turns.

Same issues that you had i have, and sorry i do not have pics of the tensioner, but the backing of the cover from the chain looked like something was rubbing on it and had the inside scratched up.

The car was sold sunday!, probably not, since i have been hearing that it will not come in a manual, the only way i will go auto if its like a s6 or s7. For now i can go either s4/5 since they are available in manual.

Congratulations - hopefully the car went to a good home! Let us know what you ultimately decide to get - glad to see it will still be with Audi.

Thank you, i was sad and excited at the same time, i posted a video above as it was being driven away... Yea after moving from a jetta to this, i felt a bond with audis, even though its been a rough road, i would not trade it for anything.

I had to part ways with my B7 RS4 i know how you feel. At least you sold yours, mine was totaled in a car accident. Someone in an F150 rear-ended me on the freeway.... I was so pissed at him. i was hoping it was going to be able to be fixed but hey we all need to move one. Good luck on your search.....

FYI i have had several Manual and DSG cars but i changed my mind after driving ZF transmission. i did not like the DSG as much for daily driving but i have got to love my ZF tranny... you should try it. i have it both on my Q5 and my A4. i know S4 dont come in the ZF but lets see what is in store for the B9 S4.....

Ah ok; I figured as much. Yep, once the tensioner fails, the chain has a ton of slack in it and when you first start the car, the chain will JUMP and slap around. It will then catch on the oil drain gutter on the front cover and that's when catastrophe can occur.

With all the issues i had over the years, that was the last straw, so it made my decision to sell it, of course the new owner has basically a new motor.
