01134 - Alarm Horn (H12) -- Where is this located?

So I've been living without the chirp/beep sound (the one you hear when you lock the car) for almost a year now. I scanned for fault codes and got the following:

    Code:
    01134 - Alarm Horn (H12)
                008 - Implausible Signal
                 Freeze Frame:
                        Fault Status: 01101000
                        Fault Priority: 2
                        Fault Frequency: 81
                        Reset counter: 166
                        Mileage: 52879 km
                        Time Indication: 0

    01134 - Alarm Horn (H12)
                004 - No Signal/Communication
                 Freeze Frame:
                        Fault Status: 01100100
                        Fault Priority: 2
                        Fault Frequency: 1
                        Reset counter: 166
                        Mileage: 52879 km
                        Time Indication: 0

I remembered seeing somewhere in the forums that it may be caused by a faulty door actuator that wouldn't lock a particular door but I've checked and all my doors lock fine, including the trunk and the gas. I was thinking of buying a replacement Alarm Horn but I cant seem to find out where this is located in the car?
Anyone else replaced their Alarm Horn?

Might not be the same but on mk5 it's in the passenger side Fender liner. Just remove the liner at the top and its tucked under fender

So I bought a used part off ebay to replace my original alarm horn siren with matching part number:

The part is actually located in the engine bay, underneath the cabin air intake / plenum cover attached to a bracket:

Removing the old item took a little bit of wiggling around but it didnt' take long with a simple wrench. The old alarm siren had some stain coming out of the middle, by the bolt. However, after connecting the new part the alarm chirp still didn't work. Lights flashed normally, just no sound from the alarm. I considered that the new part just may be faulty as well, but with no way to test it I couldn't be sure. I checked all the fuses--both sides and the trunk and everything looked fine. Cleared all DTCs and re-scanned the car, this time with only 1 fault instead of 2:

One thing I did notice though is that the drain was blocked and totally covered with leaves. One assumption led me to think that water had maybe accumulated and destroyed both the siren and the wiring harness. Again, I have no way of testing this. The day the alarm chirp died it had been raining pretty hard. Maybe the wires got corroded when water built up.

Another theory is maybe it had something to do with a PODI boost gauge install the week before it died. Had it done at a local reputable shop that also did all the APR flashes for the car. I noticed that the gauge was tapped into Conv. Electronics in the driver side fusebox which is maybe where the alarm was also connected. I couldn't find any reference in the manual as to which fuse the siren was connected to so again I can't be sure.

Running out of things to check and might just have to bring it to a shop/audi dealer to get it looked at.

    Hi there,

I know the post was from a while back. I currently bought an old model b8 a4 and I'm facing the same issue you had good Sir. The car lost the beep sound and the sirens won't work either. I also thought replacing the alarm would fix the issue but as soon as switch the to the alarm I bought on eBay it also didn't work.

After all this year's were you able to find a solution?

    Thank you in advance

OP......For what it's worth.... you have a far bigger problem. That's the filthiest engine bay I've seen on these forums. All that filth is interfering with your alarm horn.

So, sorry for the the necropost but here is the deal - These alarms have a built in 7.2v Ni-Mh battery so that if the thieves disconnect the main car battery, the alarm will continue to sound. The problem is that eventually the built-in Ni-Mh battery fails, explodes and spews corrosive electrolyte all over the PCB. Once this happens the alarm is really not repairable. It seems like this will eventually happen to ALL of these alarms past the 10 year mark or so - I shuffled through a bunch at a parts yard before I found one that was working. If you catch it while it is still working, you can split the case and do a battery-ectomy, or if you really want to, connect a new externally mounted Ni-Mh battery. I used a hacksaw to make a shallow cut around the perimeter of the alarm casing at the seam where it was originally glued together. I'm thinking about trying a generic 7.2v one I found on ebay, soldering it in with the wire leads and velcroing it outside the case.
