Can you use thin phone cases and still get it to slide in? Or only bare phone? I always use spigen cases.

You can use the thin iPhone cases. I also have the spigen case. Go to ProClipUSA. They have options for bare phones, slim to medium cases and thick cases.

what does the skid plate really ?? i couldn't find much info on this forum while doing a search. Well.. i know it protect, but really is there lots of people who complained in the past about damage to their under body because of a weak skid plate ?

It just protects. My OEM skid plate was damaged in a couple of places and probably needed to be replaced. I just decided that instead of replacing it with the plastic one, I'd get the aluminum one from ECS. It's a great piece. Roads in Dallas aren't great and I'm lowered quite a bit. It's probably overkill, but that's OK.

I ran a Panzerplate when I had Golfs with an aluminum oil pan. Glad Audi elected to go with the more traditional steel oil pan on the A5, but am still tempted to add one like the OP.
Oil change ease is a consideration, but we can use top-side oil extractors like V.A.G. techs. My Pella served me well with my Golfs.

Not at all. Plus Blair uses a top-side extractor.

I would. Flat bottom is nice but not a priority. At least to me

I think it all comes down to which deal u can get first assuming u go used. I always mod on a budget so if a great deal comes along, yolo!
