    Ticking near glove box.

This is the first time this has happened to me: all I hear is a grinding motor noise about 5 times and then it turns off, then comes on intermittently one time or more minutes later. Is this something to do with my blower motor unit? It ticks multiple times and then stops, then goes on again minutes later. I didn't check for any codes yet but I am wondering if anyone has had strange noises near their glove box unit.

Its probably your flap motor for the HVAC system. Pretty common on B7 A4 chassis

If it does turn out to be this, how would I go about fixing this?

Idk. mine has been doing this for the 3 years I owned it. And who knows how long before that. To it I believe you have to remove the glove box to access the flap motor

Yea remove the glovebox. It's really common on the b6 (same interior everything). It'll probably become more common on here as the cars get older. Sometimes the servos just get jammed or worn. You might be able to pull it out and lube it up. Or replace it if that fails.

My b6 made some weird clicks and creaks but had cold ac and hot heat and the recirculating air worked fine so I just ignored it.

Happened to me a few years ago. Remove the glovebox and you'll have access to the flap motor. Open up the flap motor and you'll probably find there is play between the two gears and that the motor + flap gears are out of alignment (example: flap is all the way open when motor expects it to be closed. Motor tries to open flap but flap is already open so you hear clicking). I found that the plastic covers around the motor were so loosely held together they allowed the gears to slip.

I realigned the motor and flap gears, put the plastic motor cover back on and made sure that the plastic cover was pressed tight to the boddy with zipties around it so there would be no more slop between gears. It's worked properly since then. That's the best explanation I can give while on mobile.

I just replaced one of my flap servo motors yesterday. It had been clicking like you mentioned earlier. Pulled out the glove box which was 7 or 8 bolts (8mm). I had a code (V113) which led me to order the wrong part, but luckily the motors are exactly the same so I just swapped the internal pieces (motor, cog, gear, etc.) Works like a champ now. Its a pretty easy swap, three screws hold the motor and a clip on harness.

I may do one as I have a good camera; I just need some time. Will post up a link here if I ever decide. But for now the noise has seized. It initially started after having the heat on recirculate, so it may have something to do with that particular motor. First I'll do an output test & check for codes.
