    Stage 3 SQ5

    Hello Gents,
After all these long talks of mods pretty much everybody ends up doing, how about taking it to the next level a solid Stage 3 ?
I've been looking but not many pop out. And a 450-470HP crank for some 9k$ doesn't sound too appealing, particularly that you can get just slightly less for way less in both ways.

For someone looking to enjoy the vehicle at least few more years, I think some 550HP(if that's all possible out of this platform) would be very attractive, even at cost. APR has ads for 500hp for the S3, smaller and probably less popular platform than our S/Q5s, so why not the Qs? There's a 5,7 there, solid vehicles that folks enjoy...

    Any thoughts?
    Cheers,
    Bob

There's still quite a bit left on the table for the SQ5 when compared to the S4/S5. The AWE/APR/AMS cooling upgrades, running dual pulleys, different fueling...but what we really need first is a TCU tune. Firm up the shifts and raise the redline to where the S4/S5 is at. We aren't yet maxing out the stock blower at this point.

    Hi,
Looks like we have to rebuild this whole thing... Labor of love I guess.
Where GIAC left off, do you have switch boats for all this stuff?
    Cheers,
    Bob

There are S4 threads where the Stage 3 barely keeps up with a GIAC stage 2.

Stage 3 isnt available for the SQ5 yet. See the magnuson website. The SQ5 has a different throttle body.

The 3.0T has been around since 2009 and my conclusion observing development on this engine in both the S4 and the Q5 is that it's tapped out at Stage 2. Stage 3 efforts have fizzled, nothing worth buying. No doubt some blower could be customized & tuned to push the boundaries but apparently nothing that's available, practical and cost/HP feasible for we, the bolt-on set. Not a bad thing, Stage 2 on the S4 is brilliant, just waiting for the last few miles of warranty to fly by and will go the same way on the Q.

It would be interesting to see what a SQ5 stage 3 would put down as far as 0-60 and quarter mile. I'm more about bottom end and mid range power personally. Last year I saw a stage 2 sq5 dip into the mid low 12's at Rockingham dragway( I have no idea who it was ), was very impressed for something that size with that perfgormance.

I agree! I would love to see Stage 3 options for my Q. I've got the APR ECU Tune, CAI w/carbon intake tube, Super Charger Pulley (APR), getting new Milltek full exhaust (non-res) installed shortly, currently being built in England. If there are Audi parts that are limiting the push to Stage 3, then let's find a way to swap them out with performance parts, i.e.; throttle body, fuel injection, intercooler,etc..
What would get us to a Stage 3 if price weren't an option?

There's a local guy who just ran high 11s with his stage 2 SQ. Check the SQ quarter mile thread. Probably the same guy you saw last year. Said he was on 93 tune, too.

Subscribed. I can't help but go big on every vehicle haha so if this becomes real I can't see myself being able to dodge a blower upgrade

    Stage 3 SQ5

If anyone is interested in boring out their throttle body that would probably be a worth while mod to get you to stage 3. It'd probably require a custom tune to get the most out of it though. Here's a company that will bore a single butterfly TB for $100 turn around time of 2 days. From what I read they have good reviews. http://www.maxbore.com
You could go all DIY on it and just polish the TB which may net a little bit better air flow. If you do feel like being with out your Q for a few days.

Or like Colby7 said see the magnuson website. http://www.magnusonproducts.com/p-14...er-system.aspx Thet are apparently working with APR on a tune for this. Is it worth $9500 that's up to you but like they say "You got to pay to play!"

    Was there a video of a stage 3 b8 ( upgraded pulley and tune ) walking a stage 2?
I saw it one time but have not been able to find it since.
