Can't for the life of me decide! Black Optic... or no BO... on Sepang or Grey??

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I know, I know... it's a personal choice... etc etc. But... I can't see the forest for the trees! I'm getting too wrapped up in these damn color combo options. I need some outside counsel...

My last 10 cars have been white or black. I do love the contrast between White and BO, or Black and chrome, but I think I want to go Sepang or one of the greys. I can't decide if I'm for or against BO on Sepang or one of the greys.

At first, I loved BO on Sepang. Always thought chrome trim cheapened the look a bit. Recently, I saw a pic of chome on Sepang and it looked pretty damn good.

Are there any audi forums with large photo repositories? Maybe I can sift through some S3 pics. The one here is tough to navigate/search. Google search brought a couple of results, but tough to find exact combo.

    Thanks, all!

You can also expand your image search a bit - there are a LOT of C7s in Sepang and you'll likely find some great pictures of S6/7 with those configurations. Different body styles obviously but you can compare the color combinations pretty easily.

My opinion is that black optics look great on all of the color combinations and you can't really go wrong with it. Chrome; I'm back and forth on it - not that it looks bad just not my favorite.

Agreed! BO on almost all colors.

Glad to see you got your goodwood! This fell off my radar from your tracking post; it's a beautiful car!

I personally like the silver accents in the side bumper grilles. But I like the black window trim. I wrapped my window trim in black vinyl and put a black RS3 grille on.

I have Daytona grey non BO package and I love it. I think the contrast in silver and grey makes the car stand out a bit more. I'm one of the few that's not a real fan of the BO package though.

I wish I had gotten BO on my white S3, for what it's worth. So much so that I am considering doing the package after the fact.

Mine is Monsoon Grey with BO. I love the look of it! Remember that the BO package does NOT black the mirrors, it color matches (huge mistake to me). I'm considering wrapping the mirrors because it just doesn't look quite right!

Sorry. I'm in the minority. Why would you pay to take chrome off of the car? The chrome mirrors are what makes an S car. It's identifiable. Without them, it looks like an A3 (not a dig, just my opinion).
Certain colors look do good with the BO though. Black and white but any other color..not so much. I'm also biased though. :)

I'm with you! BTW is this Daytona Grey (launch edition i guess)? Just curious because I know you guys in the US don't get Daytona but get Monsoon gray instead.

Yeah I wish my mirrors were not body color - just to stand out that much more. I considered doing a custom Cf design for mirror caps just to do something different, but not keen on paying.

I'd say get the aluminum surround.

I don't see the fascination behind Black-Optic, aesthetically viewing BO cars with it, they look no different than the economy cars that utilize the black rubber surround.

Yeah BO package on this particular car doesn't work for me. I reallllly loved the Titanium package on the old models though for some reason.

If you aren't sure, just get the standard Aluminum trim.

You can always simply vinyl wrap the trim matte or gloss black if you want. You can DIY for $30 or have a pro do it for a few hundred. Check out http://www.shadowlinetrim.com/ No one will know its wrapped. If you don't like it, or want to change it up later, just remove it.

Best of both worlds for someone unsure.

The BO and non-BO wheels look very similar. Are the BO wheels a tad darker?

I was at the dealer and looked at both a while ago. From what I remember, they were fairly close.

You did some really good work! I had Monsoon grey on my old A4 and it looked much more bluish under certain lighting. I always remembered it like this, which your color looks nothing like.

I like the black trim but the 19" performance wheels better. They just seem like they fit the car better than the BO wheels.

    More confused than ever.......

    They all look so good!

It isn't often, but sometimes I have to take a colleague, boss, or client to lunch or meetings. Misano or Sepang mightttt be a little 'whoa'. Probably just a stubborn connotation in my own head.

Because BO v non is based on everyone's personal preferences...I'm sure everyone will understand the goofy grin (and maybe the tshirt).

After adding the RS3 grille, I think she looks ravishing. Just enough shiny bits, just enough dark side.
