What exactly is the LED Lighting Package?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Are the DRLs different with and without this package? Does the interior have different lighting?

Audi's site doesn't explain it well... and I can't find much on the interwebs.

    Thanks!

What exactly is the LED Lighting Package?

I believe lighting package includes led in the cup holder, Mmi knob, floor well, speakers on the door and door handles. That's what I have but correct me if I'm wrong.

    Edit: mine is 2015.

In Canada we get ambient LED lighting and led cupholder lights as standard so the LED lighting package is only for the adapting LED headlights.

Thanks. It was vague on Audi's site, and this helps.

For the headlights, it says full LED. As opposed to xenon? Does this mean the non-LED pckg DRLs don't appear as the S4's? I've only had B8 S4s, and curious which would emulate the S4.

    Thanks!
Yes the Daytime Running LED lights (DRLs) are different if you add that package.

You will get full LED Headlights that include DRLs versus without that package which will give you the standard Bi-Xenon headlights + DRLs.

The DRLs on the full LED headlights have the turn indicators integrated into them. So they can go from their normal white luminescence to their bright amber luminescence when activating the turn indicators.

I wish LED headlights were offered as part of the Convenience Package for the 2015 model year, instead it was interior LED light package, seat storage compartments, extra 12V car ports, auto-dimming rear view mirror with compass plus heated side auto-dim mirrors.

Went to the dealer today, and couldn't tell a difference between LED Pckg and Non-LED. The headlights looked identical. Same eyelash sort of DRL design. The only thing that mightttt have been is the LED Pckg equipped S3 looked to have brighter DRLs.

Even the sales guy didn't know the difference.

It's a $1,500 option. Really trying to figure out if I should pay it.

I'll give Google another shot and see if there are any comparisons.

To be honest I don't care much for the LED headlights as long as their at least Bi-Xenon i'm happy. Now if it was halogen standard that would be a completely different story haha

To me the A3/S3 without the package looks like a retarded young brother of the A4/S4. The Lightning package gives the A3/S3 that distinctive look and is worth every penny.

if you feel that way about the bi xenons then you probably don't want to see these:

the halogens for some reason don't offend me too much

I don't mind the bi-xenons in general, but it just looks like a way too short S4 without the LED option. The LEDs give the S3 its own characteristics. Like a beauty mark.

I agree about the Full LED giving the 8V (A3/S3) it's characteristic appearance.

I wish LED headlights were an option on the '15 MY, it was Prestige only then, and I just wasn't going to spend that much for an A3.

Now that LED headlights is an option for Premium Plus, it would be awesome if you could buy the genuine parts and have the dealer install them.

I do see that Audi lists the FULL headlight as an genuine part for the P+ MY '15 A3 when I look it up on the Audi accessories site, but I imagine if would be a tough road to travel to get a dealer to upgrade.

Then again the gains are quite minimum between the Bi-Xenons and the Full LED, you gain a unique headlight appearance, amber DRL turn indicators, but you will lose brightness as I saw how Bi-Xenons are much brighter than the Full LED.

Anyone have photos of the LED lighting package headlights at night?? Compared to non-LED lighting?

Also, anyone have photos of the interior difference?

I can try to snap a picture of the LED lights at night. I love the LED DRL and turn indicator, but I'm not so sold on the LED headlight yet. I kind of miss the xenon fire-up - the LEDs just kind of come on, and frankly almost remind me of halogens.

I also need to find the VCDS codes to turn off the ambers when the headlights are on...

That'd be awesome if you can post pics of both. Do you know if the turn indicator is a feature w/o the LED lighting package?

Does the MMI Scroll Wheel light up without the LED Package? Or is this an LED Package ONLY feature?
