Recently got a vagcom cable (finally) and was messing around with the taillight configuration - going for the euro spec look with the separated brake and turn signal. I used some coding I found on another forum for the A6 tails (right before I sold her) that I had bookmarked last year and just used a little logic to figure out the facelift A/S/RS5 tails. I assume it's the same for the A/S4's.
Unfortunately what I discovered was that the center part of the light (or the inside side of the larger outside section...wait, yeah) has the top and bottom clusters of lights on the same circuit - damn. So the turn signal creates a "T" effect that's actually kind of cool I guess. Might keep it for a while, until I just crack and buy the euro tails and do it properly ha!
I do really like the brake lights better this way though, and I like the signal blinking independent of the brake.
Opinions welcome - do you like stock better, or this "modified euro"?
Happy to share the coding if anyone's interested, pretty easy to mess around with and hard to F up. When searching the topic on AZ I saw another mapping but my findings differed slightly I think. Although I wish I'd searched beforehand as the A6 individual light segment's channels were totally different and it took me a little bit to decode them all - 16 I think, but really just 8 with their pair on the other side and then the 16 correct values for what you want each channel to do.
I then spent a solid 20 minutes searching for the channel that controlled the small rear sidemarkers, only to find out that unlike the A6, it's on the same circuit as the parking/position light (or rear DRL as I've coded it). So, the red sidemarkers have to stay :/
Oh well it was a fun way to spend an hour in the garage if you ask me! And a hell of a way to introduce myself to the ross-tech cable!!
