    Oh, hai.

This happened. 02 S6, silver interior. Details to come, just drove it 100 miles home.

Edit: took some photos, still haven't done a thing with it yet so it's still super dusty in the interior. Everything is really clean condition though.

It's a piece of garbage... the headlight lenses are foggy and the center armrest is a bit beat up. You shouldn't sweat it.

thanks again for the tip and for bullying me into buying it, Bob.

Dude. If that thing was a 100 miles from me and someone snuck and and grabbed I'd blow an eyeball vessel. If you told these guys what you paid for that...holy shit.

    Heads would explode.

Here's a pic in the daylight of the outside and a pic of the passenger seat (lol). I took another of the interior but it was a bit blurry. Was just hopping in the car to get breakfast with my wife so I didn't check it.

So here's some more details now that I have time to sit down and spell it out a bit.

Fresh timing belt, water pump job (all common supporting components) and coolant crossover pipe done at the same time. New tires, new brakes, full service history from new, I'm the third owner. Headlights need buffing and clear coat, some light scuff on rear bumper, nothing crazy, center armrest isn't great but not terrible, a blemish on rear seat bench, headlight switch soft touch is lol, the fan and both sides' temp buttons on the climate are scuffed up, a bit, light curbing on wheels, a light ding or two here and there and one small rust spot on left rear fender.

Pixels on cluster are great, all electrics work, front seats looks great, carpets/headliner look great, no peeling on the dash, cupholder works, nav works a charm, came with all books and manuals, all nav discs, all tools, rear partition net, floor mats and two keys.

    Pretty solid.

I keep telling myself no one ever finds deals like this and to quit spending hours hunting the web to find one. "You need to get out and find better things to do with your life!" I tell myself. And then someone like you shows up and does something like this and then my weekend is shot, looking through website after website just to come up empty handed. Damn you!

    Extremely jealous!

Geoff, I would be cool with and Atlas Grey if you wanna talk :)

Thanks for the compliments and hate everyone :) haha. I did get super lucky on this one. It doesn't even seem like the PO had it listed anywhere, Rollerton just caught wind of him wanting to sell and the logistics weren't quite right for him.

It's not all rainbows and butterflies, though it is a really nice deal. Here's what it needs and what I'll be addressing to restore it.

Power steering pump is really noisy, not sure what causes pumps to get loud, but I'm a bit worried about the belt and the pump dying.

ABS module/pump I shot. Anyone have experience with having theirs repaired? I've heard buying used is dicey and would rather fix it right the first time.

Cats are bad. Going to reach out to Daz first for a tune, see if he can help me with this engine. Question: if the cats throw a code are they dirty/clogged and should be removed? If that's the case I'll go high flow cats.

Maf needs to be replaced. No big here, 200k miles I would do it anyway.

Mechanically thats what she needs, she just had an inspection and some suspension stuff came up but I see no issue.

I'll detail it, clean the headlights up and start to bring her back!

So after driving your stage 2 allroad and the S6 what is your impression of the V8 it's a very smooth engine with lots of torque down low and mid range. I'm still contemplating a six speed swap which would rekindle my love for the car.

It's a nice drive, the auto is definitely the downfall. The allroad is much quicker for sure. At no point does the V8 snap, but it sounds wonderful and it's not a slouch (sorry to my 12v 2.8 C4).

Definitely nice and tight feeling, reminds me how badly I need sways for the allroad! I would really love it with a manual, as it is though I simply really like it. It's the perfect fun and great looking daily/work car for me. I can literally leave it stock, bring it back and keep it mint, and it will garner respect and be a joy to drive.

First road trip coming up very soon for it.

Here's my take on the massive problems with that pile of crap:

Power steering pump: I swapped one in my 'other S6' a couple months ago. It's not a hard job, 2-3 hours max. I just got a used / low miles one from Ebay, went in noisy, quieted down after a day or so. But the procedure is pretty straight forward: Jack up front. Pump is drivers side, halfway down. LOOSEN steering pump pulley bolts first (hardest part of the job) - but the pump will NOT come out with the pulley on!! Then Remove Accessory belt, loosen banjo bolts, drain fluid, then I think there are only 2 or 3 13mm bolts. Pump takes a special angle to wiggle out of its home.

ABS module: Easy one, www.modulemaster.com . You can remove the ABS module- I think one time I did one I went through the wheel-well, removed fender liner and washer fluid tank to get to a couple bolts? . Anyway, doesn't keep you from driving at all, which is cool. Scan and RECORD your ABS coding before you remove it, if you can.

    CATs; My opinion? THIS:
I never had any side effects from gutting the cats, same performance and the SOUND it leaves you with is straight V8 growl. Amazing. Then if nothing else is giving you a CEL ask Daz for a Cat efficiency file. I have a couple S6 files and the CAT efficiency addresses, but I'm having a problem finding my way around the coding.

Or Junk it. It's junky, and will ruin your life.

Good info, should I decide to be an IDIOT and sink good money into a bad car I will heed all of this advice. I have a local S6 being parted out probably. It's so local that it will probably part out in my garage. I'll grab the pump from there.

Now about the cats. Awesome to hear because I was a touch worried about back pressure changes affecting performance negatively.
