    Launch Control Help

Ok I'm being an idiot and can't engage launch control. This is what I'm doing and I'm sure there is something I'm missing....turning the traction control in sport/full off (doesn't matter), putting my left foot on the brake, and mashing the gas. The RPMs however only go to 2000 and won't go any higher. What am I doing wrong?

    wheels straight
    engine warmed
    in S mode
    traction off
    brake fully pressed
    accelerator fully pressed

you should see rpms bounce at 4k
    then release brake

Yes and make sure it's in dynamic mode and it's ESC OFF.

The car was still cold. Cold that be the culprit? I didn't check the engine temp but it had only been on for maybe 5 mins.

try when its fully warmed? do you have a vcds? if so you can add the oil temp gauge in DIS. fully warmed is about 200-215 degrees F

So why would someone launch a cold car? Just seems like extreme punishment if the car is not adequately warmed up.

Yes. Why would you attempt to launch a cold engine/drivetrain?

i remember reading an article about porsche testing their cars in 0 below degrees. they would let the car sit in 0 below for a day or longer, then hop in, start it and start driving super hard.
the car CAN handle it. and it will run faster because the air is more dense and the turbo will spool more air. i remember this being especially true in my old b5 s4. it was incredibly faster when cold.

im in cali now and not really interesting in that anymore. i usually drive pretty gingerly. especially until it warms up. but i'm not afraid to give it some stick after a fresh startup

So I tried it again once the engine was in the 200 degree range and it works as expected now. I wasn't planning on launching the car cold I was just messing around trying to figure the launch control out.

I decided to bring up my old post rather than make a new one. So I haven't used the launch control in a while and was messing around with a friend in the car last night and we tried the launch control. I remember it used to hold the revs and boost near "max" but last night it just didn't seem right. The car had been driven for almost 30 minutes before we tried it, temperature was around 200, esp was fully off, dynamic mode and in manual. All the same as the last time i used LC. I attached a video to show what I'm talking about, I feel like the boost should be being held more than what it is. Could there be a leak somewhere? Could the temperature outside affect LC? Car is stock other than intake and resonator delete.

When I first got my car, I read somewhere that this is normal. I don't know the technical ins and outs of what is happening, but boost pressure isn't held steady during launch control. Someone had suggested that, for a harder launch, catch the boost on the "upswing" when boost pressure is building. Now, i don't know if that's true or not, but it seems logical to me.

    This.

Having an engine and tcu tune also help to build up more boost

For the execution part, on my car I really have to make sure the brake is buried on the the floor for it to activate.
