    Should I sell it and other questions... hx35..............

    Soooooo a4 b5 1.8 hx35 maxxed out and all that jazz.

    Surprisingly it hasn't broken in anyway for about 4 months. It's usually just a transmission or an axle that goes (2.8 tranny is legit in regards to 3rd gear shifting) and at this point anything that happens is easy as pie to fix. If an issue I incur is bad enough I can just buy a longblock for 650$ and that comes with a 3 month warranty. I just swap rods and keep on going. It's all dirt cheap and I just reuse anything that is within tolerance. Currently it's doing fantastic. I have a weird creaking noise while accelerating and braking, but that's just simple audi stuff....

    Anyways.. it's been quite nice that it hasn't had issues, but that's not a determining factor to sell or not. I suppose I have gotten bored. If I was out there everyday racing sti's and stage 3 s4's I would totally keep it, but sadly that never happens. EVER. I drive 95 miles a day and that's mostly on the highway. The body is definitely from the late 90's (even though I like it). I've spent about 15k on it in just over a year. That includes 2 engines(valve float & egts), but mostly turbo junk. I'm bored with it. Extremely bored. I've started to ignore clunks and clicks like a 16 yo girl who got a 2.8 from her dad. 0 passion. Like my last tinder date.

    Strangely enough my motivation has turned to my 47 willys truck i've owned for a couple years. I've done a lot of work on jeeps in the past, but i'm definitely not a 'mudding' type of guy. Who in their right mind would want to daily a 47 willys truck... that sounds awful! But i'm down to do it. My kayak fits in my audi, but it'd be nice to have a bed to haul manly shit n' stuff ;) Gravel and firewood.. I just bought a 4.10 dana 60 rear for it and it came with a baby small block v8, so no matter what it's gonna happen.

    So onto my questions. After all the time and money i've spent on my audi;
    #1 Do I keep it and carry on with my jeep given all the time and money invested. If I choose this it'll cut into my bank a hell of a lot more. When I say bank I mean student loans that I set aside to pay for my a&p tests in about 9 months.
    #2 Do I spend 80$ to dyno it just cause it'd be awesome to always know what whp it really has (but I could buy a dana 44 front with that) and sell it
    #3 Do I sell it and not dyno it and go on with my life. Currently where I stand. I feel like I may regret it forever.

    What would you do? I really can't make up my mind. I HATE selling cars. I'd rather part the damn thing out or just take 4k for it since I have given the body 0 attention. I'd never use panjo so it makes parting out complicated.
    If I didn't have the jeep i'd buy a 6266 and max that out eventually too. It's literally never ending and completely pointless. I do love fast cars don't get me wrong. It just has no practical purpose on the street day to day aside from a smile every now and then. It's throwing money into the wind for a hobby that I feel i've grown past. I should say, even if it was stock, I would be saying the same thing, so i'm not hating on bt'ness.

    Kind of in a similar situation with my car. I've considered selling. But then I realize that I have dumped around $14k into it, and could probably sell for $5k. Why sell it? Might as well keep it instead of taking a $9k hit on a 15 year old car.

    But that's me. If you feel it is time to move on, it is time. Find something else to waste money on. But as far as I am concerned, there is nothing wrong with not selling cars. If you have the space, why not keep it around? Maybe you need to go in a different direction with the car to make you more happy with it.

    If anything, before you sell it, let it sit for an extended period of time, maybe a year or more. When it is time, jump back in it. If the smile returns, you know you should keep it. If nothing happens, dump it.

    Damn, am I talking about a woman here?

    Im in the same boat as you man! Also, not to sound full of it, the car is as clean as hell inside and out. not one thing wrong with it and EVERYTHING is up to date or has been replaced.

    Ive been either;
    - wanting to get the value its worth and move on to another project
    - Keep it and just cut it all up and go crazy with it (i.e. flares, wide wheels, motor swap)
    - Or just keep it as it is

    So i feel your pain! I say keep it if its mechanically sound. never hurts having a b5 lying around!

    That's the beauty of driving old ass cars. They are cheap and you can have a whole fleet if you want. newer cars really dont appeal to me. Yet...

    I think my first decently new car will be a d3 A8. Loved my d2!

    How are the cosmetics on the Audi? Upgrade that if it isn't up to par. And wait till after summer to see if you want to sell or not. Many garage their summer toys during this season. Don't know what you'll come across this year

    That's the real killer about selling a car like yours, you'll never get your time back, that shit is priceless. Keep it around to keep your friends with Civics in check.

    Cosmetically it's not really THAT bad. The front bumper is really the only shitty thing about it. I live down a half mile dirt driveway that is currently more of a mud pit. I have gotten high centered a few times and had to drag it out with my bobcat. I ripped the bumper off a few weeks ago while backing up after the mud froze overnight. My friend also backed his wifes jeep into the rear quarter panel like 2 weeks ago and that'll take a little love. Beyond that it's just 16yo paint. I could just buy a 'new' used bumper if all these damn euro vulturse in the area didn't swoop them up right when they hit 'pullnsave'.

    After pondering all of the responses over the last couple days I think i'm going to hold off on trying to sell it. I have a bunch of stuff I can sell that'll make me content for a while. I pieced together a meth kit that ended up being 600$ -.- I litterly saved 0$ doing so. Honestly I probably spent more, but it's capable of a lot more than all the 'stage 2' stuff you get in kits. I got a 5 gallon tank from trying though.. I could sell that... And my 630cc bosch injectors, an aeb head, an intercooler, a blown comp turbo...., and other random stuff I have procured.

    It's only 80$ to use the awd dyno. It was an opening day special they had going last weekend. It was only for 15 people, so if more than that have signed up i'm not gonna do it. I did buy a front 4.09 dana 44 today with a tapped passenger side knuckle, 5" lift pitman arm, and disc brakes, so I really don't need to sell my car soon anyways. Tires are effin expensive. I've been spending like 150$ for used sets of 225/40/18's for the last couple of years. That's kinda the only reason I would still sell it. I want 37's on rims and dd 33x9.50's. A couple grand just on that -.-
