Soooooo a4 b5 1.8 hx35 maxxed out and all that jazz.
Surprisingly it hasn't broken in anyway for about 4 months. It's usually just a transmission or an axle that goes (2.8 tranny is legit in regards to 3rd gear shifting) and at this point anything that happens is easy as pie to fix. If an issue I incur is bad enough I can just buy a longblock for 650$ and that comes with a 3 month warranty. I just swap rods and keep on going. It's all dirt cheap and I just reuse anything that is within tolerance. Currently it's doing fantastic. I have a weird creaking noise while accelerating and braking, but that's just simple audi stuff....
Anyways.. it's been quite nice that it hasn't had issues, but that's not a determining factor to sell or not. I suppose I have gotten bored. If I was out there everyday racing sti's and stage 3 s4's I would totally keep it, but sadly that never happens. EVER. I drive 95 miles a day and that's mostly on the highway. The body is definitely from the late 90's (even though I like it). I've spent about 15k on it in just over a year. That includes 2 engines(valve float & egts), but mostly turbo junk. I'm bored with it. Extremely bored. I've started to ignore clunks and clicks like a 16 yo girl who got a 2.8 from her dad. 0 passion. Like my last tinder date.
Strangely enough my motivation has turned to my 47 willys truck i've owned for a couple years. I've done a lot of work on jeeps in the past, but i'm definitely not a 'mudding' type of guy. Who in their right mind would want to daily a 47 willys truck... that sounds awful! But i'm down to do it. My kayak fits in my audi, but it'd be nice to have a bed to haul manly shit n' stuff ;) Gravel and firewood.. I just bought a 4.10 dana 60 rear for it and it came with a baby small block v8, so no matter what it's gonna happen.
So onto my questions. After all the time and money i've spent on my audi;
#1 Do I keep it and carry on with my jeep given all the time and money invested. If I choose this it'll cut into my bank a hell of a lot more. When I say bank I mean student loans that I set aside to pay for my a&p tests in about 9 months.
#2 Do I spend 80$ to dyno it just cause it'd be awesome to always know what whp it really has (but I could buy a dana 44 front with that) and sell it
#3 Do I sell it and not dyno it and go on with my life. Currently where I stand. I feel like I may regret it forever.
What would you do? I really can't make up my mind. I HATE selling cars. I'd rather part the damn thing out or just take 4k for it since I have given the body 0 attention. I'd never use panjo so it makes parting out complicated.
If I didn't have the jeep i'd buy a 6266 and max that out eventually too. It's literally never ending and completely pointless. I do love fast cars don't get me wrong. It just has no practical purpose on the street day to day aside from a smile every now and then. It's throwing money into the wind for a hobby that I feel i've grown past. I should say, even if it was stock, I would be saying the same thing, so i'm not hating on bt'ness.
