For 2014 S4, are the headlights beam directionals?

Not left and right, but they should go up and down depending on the attitude of the car.

All S4 lights are self-leveling (up and down). Certain cars also have active lighting where the headlights turn left and right with the steering wheel. It's an optional package.

I have the active lighting package (up/down/left/right)...I think it was an option.

The right/left directional functionality was not available on all model years of the prestige vehicles (like mine). I wasn't familiar with the AFS acronym, but found a 2011 Audi press release which said this about it:

"LED AFS
Audi uses the acronym AFS for its “advanced frontlighting system”. The term defines the next but one step forward in headlight technology – a further development of Matrix Beam. The system aims to pick out important individual objects in the driver’s field of view by illuminating them more directly. The objects concerned may be people or animals on the road that have been detected by the night vision system, but also road signs or those used to indicate road works.

AFS technology callss for the LEDs to be movable, and they are therefore mounted on the ends of piezo rods. When a voltage is applied, the numerous small plates made up of piezo crystals are pulled together. The rod then pivots up or down. Another method adopted by AFS technology uses small beamers in the headlights that can project navigation arrows on to the road."

Yeah, I was slightly bummed to find out my car (2010 Prestige) didn't have AFS, especially when my B7 had it. Oh well.

Right, I should have clarified I was talking about B8.5's since OP has a 14' My B7 and B8 had it but I didn't take the option on my B8.5 and I don't really miss it that much. Some LED foglights and I've got plenty of light without needing them to "curve" around corners.

Have it on my 2014 prestige - and love it. Great when turning into unlit areas.

As for the LED AFS - I thought that is was only available on the higher models and newer Audis. I don't think the S4 even had that as an option until now.
