Power Steering Issues after new pump

I just installed a new pump today, filled up the system and no problem was solved. The steering wheel will only turn at higher rpm. prior to this the car had zero fluid in it after some fun in the snow. So I figured I blew the pump. I Parked it finally got to the new pump install on my day off(super cold 23 degrees here). I let it run for ten minutes with the cap open to bleed the air out, then I drove it for about 15 minutes with still having issues with my power steering. I did not flush the system because I fiqured it all leaked out already. When I got back I checked to see if I still had my fluid and it was full. Any thoughts on why im still have problems?

If i remember correctly you need to unplug the return hose and turn the engine for less than 5 seconds.

Repeat multiples times while making sure the power steering reservoir is always full.

This should release the air trapped in the system.

If this doesnt work, it could be that since you ran your pump dry, metal shavings may have circulated in the system and messed up the rack.

I'm no expert but have read extensively about the matter since my car was running really low on steering without me realizing that the whirring noise was coming from the power steering pump.

Hope it turns out to be something small for you bud.

Sounds like the rack took a dump! Did you see where the fluid had originally leaked out from?? PM me as I live in Suffolk and work for Audi...
