alright guys so my brakes have about reached the point of no return. i am only looking to replace my rotors and pads because i feel that the stopping power is enough for my stage 1+. no offence to anyone running them but 18zs are pretty useless on a 1.8t unless you have a serious bt... even though they do look incredibly sexy. i was looking at buying a set of adams rotors because they will bolt right up and not terribly priced at 300$ for the front and rear. until i found this deal:
    http://www.ebay.com/itm/FRONT-REAR-4...0AAOSw5dNWr6ly
Yes i know its fleabay but they seem legit and come on 150$ for some zinc plated drilled and slotted rotors and ceramic pads? how can you go wrong.. just wanted to run this by you guys and see if any of you have had experience with Brakemotive products.

Skip the drilled rotors unless you want them to crack. Especially for $150 rotors...

Your car a stock 1.8T with stock brakes? If you not looking at spending too much $$, buy a set of 3.0 caliper carriers, get the 3.0 rotors (312mm vs stock 1.8T 288mm on the front), an extra 10mm on the rear) and get yourself a good quality set of rotors, and some nice pads. Make sure your calipers are in good working order. If you need rotors/pads anyways, your not really spending much more $$, and your getting a little more bite.

Yeah i actually forgot about this option but is it really worth the extra time/money for that extra 30mm of braking power. Also been scowering throught other forums because brakemotive makes kits for a ton of other vehicles. Theres guys on corvette forums using these on Z06s for years with no issues. So i mean maybe these 150$ rotors arent as shit as some might think

You can garunteed grab some carriers for like $10 each from a part out/local wrecking yard. If you already need rotors, 3.0 vs. 1.8T rotors are not that far of $$ wise. So realistically, the extra 24mm/10mm is less than a $100 to upgrade.

Realistically, unless you live in the mountains and use your brakes constantly or are going to start tracking the car, stick with what you have, rotor and caliper-wise. Get decent quality rotors (one of the centric rotors off Rockauto.com work well) and high quality pads (I'm partial to Hawk HPS).

If you can engage the ABS system on your car, tire, not your brakes, are the weak link in stopping.

A good set of of oem pads, I use Textar, and quality blanks, I use Zimmerman give good bite and brake feel. They stop my APR K04 fine. Never felt like I was going to lose the car under hard braking.

That said I'm upgrading to brembos up front and S4 rears. For looks and the extra stopping power. 😝

Anyway the point is, you can upgrade to bigger brakes, but the stock setup is adequate enough with a good quality set of pads and rotors. You get what you pay for.

I just ordered b8 s5 front calipers with carriers, b7 s4 rear calipers with carriers, centric zink drilled rotors, power stop z23 pads, stainless lines, wipers, hood release, trunk popper, mann carbon air filter, mann intake filter for about 700 - 800 bucks.
I did hps pads, they were dusty on stock rotors and calipers. Maybe they're better on bigger rotor and caliper....? What do we think of the power bleeder?

I'm selling a set of B7 calipers, if interested. Like new condition, and a nice improvement over the B6 setup.

X2. SS lines would be a nice addition along with a brake fluid flush. Tyrol sport sell Brake stiffener kits along with SS lines.

So the 3.0 carriers are the only thing ill need to run the 3.0 rotors? And is there a different pad for the 3.0 rotor?

Makes you wonder why Audi didn't just put the bigger carriers and rotors across the board.

It took them until 2005.5 with the B7 which runs an updated B5 S4 setup. Both the 4 and 6 cylinder B7s shared the same setup. They got it right eventually.

Yep! Funny how from the b6 -> b7 chassis the A4 brakes got significantly larger, but the S4 brakes stayed exactly the same. They clearly realized how inadequate the b6 brakes were...

So wait a second, this got me thinking. If the caliper and the brake pad are the same while running the 3.0 vs 1.8 setup wouldnt the brake contact area be exactly the same even though there is a larger rotor?

That would be correct. The gains are a result of the larger diameter. Imagine using a one foot breaker bar to loosen a lug nut. Now imagine using a two foot breaker bar to do the same thing. Larger diameter equals more Newton-meters of torque.

I understand that but what im saying is wouldnt the brake pads need to be larger aswell in order to contact/benefit from the larger diameter rotor?

Certainly more contact would be a benefit but simply increasing the diameter will increase the braking power even though the contact area and pressure remain the same.

Basic physics. Torque = Force x distance.

Edit: Keep in mind that in order to use the larger 3.0 rotors you also have to use the 3.0 caliper carriers. The 3.0 carriers move the calipers further out from the centerline.

    Thus the increased D in T = F x D
